Some of us have already paid in full for our tickets (be it full/ partial plans). Selling my tickets were hard enough before the trade now it'll be impossible. I don't plan on attending too many more games but I'll be down with chanting "we want Ted" at the ones I do attend.

Although, I wish the Organization would just use their newly acquired "financial flexibility" (EG's words in his press release) to refund the balance of the remaining home games. If I ever get season tickets again, I'm gonna make sure I have some type of mid season opt out clause!

I already have tickets and I'm taking my foster son, who hasn't been to a game this season. He hates the Wizards (he likes the Lakers) but he will enjoy seeing a good team, and I can update him on why he doesn't recognize any Wizard on the court.

Me too. I have a few more games in my partial plan, and expect the Wizards will begin offering freebies in the hopes of enticing renewals, but some real close seats for cheap to see a team that's interesting might get me to cough up a little more. My wife loves to sit close to the court--we had court side seats once, and Mitch Richmond fell right at her feet; very exciting, and he gave her an autograph afterward and laughed about falling right in front of us (nice guy).

I think maybe getting a message to Leonsis that these moves are impacting the future value of the franchise he is buying (that is, fewer tickets will be sold) might mean something, because as things stand, I don't plan to renew for the first time in I think four and maybe five years. I bought individual tickets for years, and if there's nothing going on, I won't be buying many of those next year. Maybe take my foster son to see the Lakers trounce the Wizards, and . . . maybe the Dallas game.

You guys need to make up some really creative chants. Let your displeasure be known. Organize something akin to what Bucks fans did last year.

The Fire Ernie signs and chants needs to be seen and heard at the games, get those signs on TV, Ted will see them.

Could it be that Ernie knows his days are almost over here and he's trying to deplete the team before the new management takes over? The trade and the talk about unloading our youth makes me think Ernie is setting this team up for failure for years to come.

Ted Leonsis has replied to two emails I sent. He shares the pain, but stresses that he'd prefer this path to having a huge payroll, losing money and still fielding a losing team. He seems to view this approach as the best hope rebuilding, and attributes the poor return on the trade to the cba; with so much at stake financially for so many teams, apparently it's a buyers market, and those that must sell now are the losers. He also insists that the Pollins are not trying to hurt the team (although what else could he say?).

It must be difficult to watch this from the sidelines, but from his communications, I don't know that he would have done much differently at this point. The fact that he responded fairly directly to the points I made gives me some confidence in his ability to turn things around.

Yeah, I can respect his line of reasoning there to be sure.

The problem is in the moves that put us to this point to where we had to do this, but, ya know.....

+1

The games I go to will be because I already bought the tix.
At least I got to see us beat CLE once this year. That almost
makes it worth it.

I can't make up my mind whether to laugh or cry at that

but while I'm thinking of it, I probably will not be able
to go Wed night vs the T-Wolves. Make offer for 2 decent
seats in 107 if interested.

Any news on Leonsis purchase of the zards? Or are they waiting for the fire sale to end first?

Really? Can they also give us Haywood back?

I highly doubt that they would do that but if they did I'm guessing it will be tied to renewing tickets for next year.

in spite of how badly the season has gone, I'm not rejecting out of
hand the idea of renewing. It'll partly depend on how marketable
my 'unwanted' or unable to attend games end up being.

that said, I'm also really PO'd about not being able to park
free anymore since the meters are now enforced until 10
when the enforcement used to end at 6:30.

I usually walk, but if I'm coming from somewhere else by car (or its like 20 degrees out) I park around 7th and M, on 7th or on side streets. If you don't mind walking a few blocks, I think those meters are still 6:30.

Argh, I can't see this video. Does Robert Pollin say anything interesting about the ownership change?

Looks like its just a 30 second snippet of the interview. He gives one non-answer to a question about what it will be like to not own the Wizards any more. Basically nothing interesting.

On another note, hadn't seen this posted yet:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 05196.html

Ivan Carter does a three minute interview with Ted on possibly taking over the Wizards. Ted is very complimentary of the recent trades. Maybe good news for Ernie?
