Someone should ask him about
pif's list.
Edit: oops, he talked about high draft picks. No wonder why they keep throwing away those 2nds (and 1sts for Morris, Gortat, dumping Nicholson whom Ernie signed few months earlier...)!
**** Ted.
Yeah...that was a low light of the interview... but let me be an optimist:
I don’t think you can tell a staff, ‘Don’t try to win.’ I will never do that. So if this team makes the playoffs on its own, that’s fantastic.
....If you are a leader and you set our goals and you don’t meet the goals, yeah, there might be a price to pay by everyone, right?
....if the team makes the playoffs, let’s make the playoffs, and I can deal with it then.
This should NOT be overlooked. We may not be sellers, but that statement certainly means we are not buyers. Ted just basically said...
I am not happy with how the season is turning out and may need to re-evaluate in the off season. But if these guys can rally around each other, Thats great and gives a better picture moving forward.
What I gather is:
1) We ARE NOT trading assets to improve the team this year only - Good news
2) Making the playoffs is the goal and will make Ted happy that the team didnt fold, but wont stop him from making changes this offseason
3) A full rebuild/tank is NOT happening.
My thoughts. I can deal with the 3, so long as 1 & 2 are real.
Keeping the pick & Moving on from EG are more important than a full rebuild
