He didn't take shots early and allowed others to get involved, then he took over as the game wore on. It sure was nice to get some help from Westbrook so he didn't wear down by the 4th quarter.

I dunno. The 4 players around him would have to be quite good with a deep bench, like a Detroit Pistons situation in their heydays. Even AD couldn't win as a number 1. Very few players can unless you put a loaded roster around him.

The more you look at it, what Dirk did to win his Championship was the stuff of legends considering the roster. But it was built to maximize the strengths of everyone and coached perfectly. Like a perfect synergy. We have nothing like that.

Mostly they put physically tough veterans around him. Tyson Chandler was a perfect complement - allowing Dirk to save his energy for offense, and Chandler's backup - Brendan Todd Haywood also bringing the D. Kidd and Marion were past their prime, but nobody wanted to mess with them, and remember DeShawn Stevenson bullying a young Kevin Durant in the playoffs - getting in his head? Jason Terry and Peja firing 3's off the bench. JJ Barea being the little pest who got some big buckets. Mostly, they'd beat you up defensively and reign down 3's.

I commend Beal for his patience.

His attitude should be celebrated, but I can't help but feel sorry for how much this franchise has let him down with its decision making.

Yup. Although Wall made things a bit tricky with his lack of reliable perimeter shooting. In addition to Beal and the 3&D wing being good shooters, you need one of your 4 or 5 to be a serviceable shooter as well, and serviceable shooters who defend are harder to find. They cost more than MLE, at any rate.

But yeah, if you took Wall and Beal, added a center like Clint Capela and a 3&D wing like Dorian Finney-Smith, you'd have a pretty good foundation. You are playoff team with a mediocre power forward like Paul Millsap. If you get yourself a real good one like Pascal Siakam, you are a contender.

Of course it's Wall outside shooting in particular has come around to be right in line with his career best in 17/18.

Converting .367 on 5.6 3PAs is good stuff and 15 FGAs Wall is playing exactly like a lot of people had hoped he would with the Wizards.

Not surprisingly he's got a career hight eFG of .510 at the moment.

Turning Bertans into assets and trading for Covington in the offseason would have the team already way ahead of where this current roster is.

Throw somebody like Haliburton or Vassell into the mix instead of Avdija along with a draft move to add Tillman and the Wizards would have been a tough team to match up with.

Heck, Avdija probably would have looked much better playing alongside Wall because he would have found him spotting up and cutting, not something that Westbrook is really capable off.

It is odd, but it also comes at a time when Beal stated pretty assertively that he wants to stay and make it work. I seriously doubt they would trade him at the moment, unless there's a godfather offer.

The latest rumor is that New York is interested. They have Barrett, their own picks, the Dallas 2021 (unprotected) and the Dallas 2023 pick (top 10 protected). Currently, that's the #8 and #12 pick in this draft. But if you run a lotto simulator, it's surprising how often the Knicks end up in the top 4. On the other hand, the Knicks with Beal and Thibs should get better over the 2nd half of the year, and Dallas will probably right the ship as well.

I couldn't commit to this deal unless it's after the lottery and we know NY has a top 4 pick.

He was a starter and it wasn't really that close tbh. #1 in every voting category. Even last year, he was #2 in media and player voting. Wouldn't be surprised to see him rip off 4 or 5 straight all-star games tbh.

The players have a powerful union and guaranteed contracts. One thing, however, is they're obligated contractually to go along with the All Star weekend and the relatively modest compensation for All Star appearances and game checks.

The league is all about $$.

They don't care that the whole idea could be putting people unnecessarily at risk of health and safety. Beal wants to be selected but not play. I can see his point.

I'm happy for Beal. He's worked his tail off, remade his body, and added a ton of skill. He's earned his flowers.

But I also acknowledge that the constant trade rumors + the meme-able "Sadly Beal" expressions have actually boosted his Q-rating. *For the time being*, he's getting more love at the moment than he would as the #2 or #3 guy in Philly, Denver, or Miami. Things may be different during the playoffs, but for now, this is probably the best place for his personal brand.

I wrote this a couple of weeks ago when the news broke that Beal was the leading vote getter among EC guards. Sounds like BB sorta agrees.

Ironically, all of the trade talk about Beal has probably helped him as far as all-star voting is concerned. He's gotten a ton of publicity and exposure that he wouldn't have gotten otherwise...especially for someone on a 5-13 team.

I know it’s not all about scoring. But Bradley Beal right now is on track at averaging a full season at 33ppg.

Yea I get that he’s our go to guy and he gets the shots he wants.... But you gotta start treating this guy with some serious level respect for this and if he can get to the end of the season averaging 33ppg and taking this team to a playoff spot potentially...all the while having the highest usage basketballer EVER on your team then his season cannot be underestimated as being on of the greatest Wizard single player season we’ve ever seen.
