I get good endurance work in the pool at the end of my workouts. Fat helps you stay afloat.
After I get really tired shooting around and whatever other gym workouts I do, (one gym has a speed bag and a heavy bag); I follow the first part of my workout with swimming and/or water aerobics.
It's relaxing as well. I feel like I have a lot of energy in the water.
