What Jesus would do. As horrible as this is, I don’t know why the VPs office hasn’t turned this into a press opportunity to hammer Republicans. Work with local faith communities and humanitarian groups to get these people help but also highlight how depraved Republicans are for just dumping people off without any type of assistance or help.

They should've been sent back to Mexico it's warmer there. But the nitwit democrats have opened the door for the entire mexican population

Love ya buddy, and also I say "nonsense" to that. No man, we need smart principled people of every walk of life, who can understand the needs of the people they represent. This is not the United States of the Armed Forces. You want your laws written by the best and brightest and most forward-looking people. But you want a wide selection, more than one narrow field. I don't care if you are a college professor or air force captain or constitutional scholar or damn good lawyer. I want a slice of all of America so the needs of everybody get put in the spotlight.

Doesn't matter their background, you want smart people who bargain hard but cut good deals. Statesmen not ideologues. Yes I agree a former military guy like John McCain was principled enough to fight for his country AND knew when to compromise. He may have been on the opposite side of the aisle from my guys on most issues, but you never doubted that o the big issues he was doing what he thought was best for the country, more so than strictly working to feed his lobbyists.

Still, I appreciated a guy like Barney Frank, who did the same from the opposite perspective. You want pols who can recognize that we are all in it together. That they represent even the guy who didn't vote for them. And that they even protect people who vote against their best interests and don't really know what they want. Maybe that guy is military, but I don't care if you've been in a wheel chair your whole life and can't do a push-up. If you have damn good ideas and can rally people to vote for them, you're the guy I want in office.

John McCain was the scum of the earth. He looks good now only because of who one has to compare him to in the Republican Party.

Fair point. The scum of the earth looks better than the scum of Hades.

I generally disagreed with much of McCain's policy agenda but he at least could
occasionally be a pleasant surprise and do something of high character.
No one, least of all Golfy McBonespurs, should criticize his character as a POW.

That was over 15 years ago—and I since returned to sub QUITE SUCCESSFULLY here in Hawaii. I love passing on love, wisdom and delivering a lesson plan designed by a full time teacher who needs relief.

Subbing is like being a relief pitcher or a placeholder or a guest speaker. It’s FUN.

Ken, I had forgotten you did some teaching. Good on you for that. My wife and daughter both
spent time as teachers. My son also currently works in education as well.
In my daughter's case, that is her full time and probably permanent career profession
at Falls Church HS. She teaches 9th grader English. It is a noble one. Hard to come up with another
which has the potential to positively impact so many people. Respect. I know I owe a great debt
to all the teachers I had from kindergarten to graduate school.

PS - proud and excited for my son who was recently accepted at VCU into their Masters Sports Leadership
program.

Confirmation bias meet Russian bots... only pay attention to information that confirms your beliefs.

Probably why he thought we were in a full blown recession while the economy was expanding? It was one of the Russian narratives... just saying.

Thing is, BS has never bothered to provide any actual details or examples about his grievances.

I predict his posts in 2023 will occupy the middle ground between laughable and pathetic,
particularly in response to what the new House will be doing.

Perhaps he could give us a list of what he thinks the priorities of the new House
should be and who he supports as Speaker.

Or maybe how he feels about this shining example of a new member of the GOP majority.

But also I predict he will do none of that. It would be completely out of character for him
to actually engage in a respectful convo.

Will Santos' excuse/explanation - everybody does resume embellishment - be acceptable to him?

Massively racist for you to assume all of these migrants are Mexican or that they don’t have a legal asylum claim, never mind the right to be treated humanely and not be used for political games.

BonScott is a troll. You’re not going to get anything from him. He just comes in and does a drive by and leaves. I’m 100% convinced he’s someone who’s too cowardly to use their main account and Bonscott is an alt. He’s had like 50 posts and all of them except for a couple have been in this thread.

BS is not hard to predict given his established record. He lives up to it every time
(I normally try to avoid absolute statements but I'm on pretty firm ground here).
Nothing substantive. Just childish name calling.

He is a Russian troll that pushes the bots talking points.

His talking point about Mexicans is false.

The current net migration rate for Mexico in 2022 is -0.428 per 1000 population, a 2.95% decline from 2021.

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Past time probably. I normally try to give people a chance to engage. I think
its chances have been used up.
