Hopefully he (Alex) can stay healthy.

I recognize Trae is a well above avg passer even as I believe many folks overrate him.
He can prove me wrong next year when a draft pick isn't at stake. I'd be fine with that.

Zach Lowe mentioned Sarr on the BS Podcast when asked to name a player to buy stock in while it’s still cheap.

If he were to play 30 mins /game, which I think is where he will be next year, he will project to be a 25 pts, 7 rbs, 4 blks, 4 assists, 1 steal, per game.
These are near all-star, if not all-star numbers.

He's going to average more than 7 rbs in 30min....
He already averages more than that....
But the rest is going to improve as expected....

And he wanted to come here all along....

John Wall used to make everyone look good - Gortat and all the mid wing players who got paid here (couldn't do it for Mahinmi - thanks Grundle).

Trae Young about to do the same for our guys next year, including Sarr. Plus Sarr will hopefully keep getting stronger on his own, which should help outside of the Trae effect. Love to see it.

If he has a decent defender like ad next to him he'll have less blocks but more rebounds

Doubt it. I expect the blocks remain the same and the rebounds dip. Sarr is not a rebound hound. Even as he gets stronger I don’t think his inclination and instinct for rebounding will change. If he can sell out on defending the shot I expect he’ll happily cede the rebounding job to AD. Or whomever is underneath. But without the need to be both places at once I expect he will thrive in defending in space or collapsing from the weak side to swat away the shot.

Whereas AD is no longer as mobile at defending in space. Though his rebounding is actually improving as a result. Better on his wheels if he’s not trying to chase around the perimeter.

I like Sarr's productivities, my concern with Trae initially is that no one is really rotating to help when he tries to cover for him. Maybe its they don't really care, but hopefully when they are healthy and trying it won't be as glaring at times.

I think Sarr being out of position *every single play* covering up his teammates' defensive deficiencies contributes to his low rebounding. The zards' opponents get a *ton* of offensive rebounds right now. Having a defensively talented front court mate will raise rebounds available to everybody, and Sarr won't have to abandon his rebounding duties on *every single play.* His rebounds will go up. His blocks will go down. But the team defense will improve. Doesn't matter how good your defense is if you don't get the defensive rebound in the end.

The team clearly needs an offensively talented PG to anchor the offense AND CAN PLAY DEFENSE and their current defensive anchor, Sarr, needs help from a rebounding big down low. Hopefully one of those will be addressed in the draft, neither Trae nor AD are championship level long term solutions. Trae will help A LOT next year, I think. I think Tre and Bilal will benefit tremendously not having to fight for open looks for 3. I hope AD is healthy for more than half the year, Sarr needs practice not having to defend every single player on the court. Because during a championship run, if it ever happens, he won't have to.

Sarr also needs to learn to cover opposing bigs and not just switch off them, we are getting killed by opposing centers almost every game. I like the kid and can see his potential but he's still a long way away and may have to move back to PF.

I've thought all along that Sarr is better off as a 4 because he can shoot 3s and just isn't a physical guy.

I mean, right now the alternative is to have Kyshawn George or Champagnie guard the other team's center, which would be an even bigger mistake. I think if the zards draft Boozer Sarr is still the center. But when AD is healthy Sarr should guard the four.

Sarr will fill out. He will eventually be a full time center. Ultimately, I think he will be better off out-quicking slow centers, than shooting over smaller forwards.

Next season, during the minutes he shares the floor with Davis, I agree that Sarr should be guarding the forward, with Davis guarding the center.

Do we have any hypnotists here? I really want Sarr to get the fade away jumper out of his repertoire.

4 blocks per game over an entire season is Tim Duncan/Wemby numbers, DPY numbers.

A lot of his blocks are Bill Russell blocks, the actually valuable kind. It's hard to overstate how awesome Sarr's defense is, *now.* Next season if he does not put up all star/DPY numbers I'll be shocked.

+1000

And the one shot he made the other night? A massive driving poster dunk! When I saw that I was like: "WHY? WHY NOT TRY THAT EVERY TIME??"

Cmon BK, tie Alex to a chair and make him watch that highlight 100 times in a row!

I do think the "play well, get benched" incentive we have right now isnt great for his learning.
