I agree with you about Singleton. Which makes me think is Booker's long term potential any better than Singleton's? Singleton is a classic JYD who play's with intensity, works hard, rebounds well, and defends well. Since he's never been priveleged you know he'll always bring it and I doubt he gets signed for anything more than 2 times the vet minimum.

A few weeks ago a die hard Clemson poster gave a well thoughtout description of Booker and it doesn't appear from his description, or Bookers summer league, that he'll be a JYD player. How will Booker see the floor unless he does the dirty work? The fact that Singleton is still available and that Booker didn't really show much makes EG's trade up and selection of Booker a major head scratcher.

Agreed. I would have been happier with the drafting of Pondexter accompanied by the signing of Singleton.

The jury is still out on Booker though. He may turn out to be a very good player. There's a chance that he pans out to be a shut down frontcourt defender in the Mbah-Moute mold, but with a better jumpshot. Time will tell. I at least like what we've heard about his practice habits. He works hard, he's physical, and he has earned the nick name "Grown-ass Man"

Tough to judge the guy based on five summer league games that were all about the Wall/Mcgee show. Let's see how he works before judging him or the trade.

It think Booker might be more of a Corliss Williamson type player. Stud under-sized power player in college, who has to adjust to the pros. I thought of Williamson as a dud in the NBA. I took him a couple years to get started, but he was a solid player for many years.

The difference between Booker and Williamson is that Booker has the footspeed to stay with NBA small forwards. Williamson wasn't a tweener. He was a short PF. Basically, he didn't have a position in this league.

Booker's length and athleticism will allow him to compete defensively at either SF or PF. He may even excel defensively at both positions. I think Mbah-Moute is the best comparison - or maybe Jeff Green, if he ever develops three point range. Green shot 28% from 3 in his rookie year and 39% in his second season.

corlis took a while to become a decent NBA player but
was a key rotation guy when DET won it.

funny thing in retrospect -

DET won it when they had Okur and Williamson.
Both left after the championship. I think they
felt the loss of both guys. The were both solid
contributors.

Yes, such outlandish predictions as:
