Around when I said Wizards should have kept Kendall Marshall.

The first 9 games of January looks like one of the toughest clusters of games on the schedule. Tough first week going 0-3 on that home stand but it was three losses to superior teams. Then the cluster of four games in five days that ends with a back to back of @Indy on Friday and home vs Houston Saturday is brutal. Then we travel to Chicago on Monday and get Miami at home on Wednesday.

No rest for the weary. We need to beat Chicago because we're probably going to lose to Indy, Houston, and Miami.

Then we're three games under .500 again.

After that, we've got a four games home stand against Chicago, Detroit, Philly, and Boston that we absolutely MUST take advantage of. Hopefully we can get back to around .500 following that.

Because the last four games of the month are looking like another 1-3 stretch. If we beat all the teams who are worse than us and lose to the teams who are better, we'll probably finish the month one game under .500.

And that, my friends, is what mediocrity smells like.

A team has to have a reliable identity to get over .500 this late in the season. We aren't talking 5-5 or 10-10.

Looks like the Wizards are still trying establish that. Settling in on a sustainable rotation is going to help them do that. Started with Nene coming off the bench. Now they are working 20 mins of Ves into that. Otto getting his 10 mins. Temple getting his 12-15 min. Its looking like something they can keep up. Nene no more then 30 min. Closer to 26 if they can. Beal under 30 mins. Hopefully that keep Nene and Beal healthy.

They should be able to gel from here.

I just went to the NOP board. That place is a dead-zone. Memphis, ATL, and NOP are all amongst the saddest of board. Guess the Deep South just doesn't like their bball. Cleveland's board is pretty sad too. I might be wrong but if I remember right, it used to be pretty lively when James was there. Those boys packed up camp and ran for the hills.

We are a respectable team on the road. Everyone on the board should feel good about that win. We could have closed the game better but a win is a win.

We're just a game under right now, so it's not that crazy.

But we do need to steal a game from a superior team and beat the EC teams that we need to this month. Houston hasn't been playing as well on the road, and they've gone just 7-5 over their last 12. That might be the one.

If we finish around or even above .500, we can do something in February. It's home heavy and we get the AS break to rest.

The bench has emerged as a much more cohesive unit now that Nene and Webster are playing and we've gone to a true second line with the mass substitution with less than two minutes to go in the first quarter.

That kind of rotation makes sense for our roster issues--keeping Nene's and Beal's minutes lower for example.

And it's given Vesely and Booker a chance to begin to emerge as useful players. That's been positive.

I also wouldn't mind seeing Porter slowly start to earn more minutes. Tonight Ariza played 38. Last night Gortat played 38 I think. It'd help if Porter could earn a few more minutes at either forward spot.

Given my choice between them need to learn how to win on the road and learning how to win at home, I think winning at home should be the easier hurdle.

Nice win, but I'm not really happy with how Washington played on offense.

This team still relies far too much on making jumpers, and while the Wizards generally get good looks, cold spells invariably invite teams to get back into the game.

It's been the same story all season. The Wizards build up a lead, fall in love with their jumpers and stop going to the post even when they have favorable matchups.

Missed the game.. But I must be reading the posts wrong? They were double teaming Jan Vesely?? Get the F outta here!! It's April 1st right? What gives?? lol I've gotta go to NBA.com and watch his highlights.. Would be spectacular is they turn him into a legit player! I mentioned a week or so back that he just needed a little confidence!! Hope the kid keeps it up!

Yeah they actually doubled Ves at least once that I saw.

He scored without hesitation on a running hook and then got free at the rim several times to offer a nice target inside.

And he had a pair of alley-oops that were nice. Almost had a third but Nene threw it a little low and I think Vesely got fouled by Stiemsma so it hit the rim.

His defense was excellent. And he was very active on the glass and did an excellent job boxing out. He kept Davis off the glass. And he got Davis a couple of fouls and got him in foul trouble in the second quarter where we went on a big run.

The story of the game to me was outrebounding New Orleans by ten. We just wanted it more. The ball was bouncing our way and we also outworked them. Guards came down with rebounds in traffic and bigs boxed out. And we worked for position on the offensive glass and got a ton of extra possessions. That plus excellent three point shooting is really why we won. Because we didn't shoot well from the FT line or score a ton of points inside except on put backs and what Nene and Vesely did.

He was quick to move the ball on as soon as he saw the double coming

Loved Jan's game tonight. As i said earlier in the thread, any scoring he gives us is gravy, but i love what he does defensively.

Last 3 games:

19.0 mpg

8.7 ppg
6.3 rpg
2.3 bpg
1.3 spg

The other thing that stood out to me was just how special Anthony Davis already is. Hitting that three at the end was crazy. His offensive ceiling is awesome.

And getting a hand on all those passes that nobody should have any business getting to is flat out ridiculous. It's amazing how difficult a routine entry pass to a posting big is with Davis defending. Even when he doesn't have the strength to keep the guy from getting good position, it's still hard to work the ball inside.

He's got a legit chance to be the best and most valuable player in the NBA in a couple years.

Assuming Davis stays healthy he's going to be an absolute beast 2-3 years from now.

In his matchup with Vesely you could tell that he still needs to get a lot stronger for him to be effective in the post, but other than that, there are just so many excellent things that he already does on the court.

He's going to be great, love Beal and all, but damn, would have been nice to win that first overall selection that year.

RealGM traffic usually comes down to which fanbases have their other non realgm boards. For example CLE, SAS, HOU boards on RGM are really slow but their main forums Realcavsfans, Spurstalk, Clutchfans are probably the three GOAT forums for a single team

I think some fanbases also collect on SBNation fanposts type of sites. It seems like the Thunder and Blazers don't have a big forum like the above ones but have their community in fanpost style

NOP board http://www.pelicansreport.com/forum.php gets decent traffic. I used to read it because they had a well spoken/opinionated poster who became the ultimate pariah by claiming repeatedly Anthony Davis was overrated and no better than the 7th best prospect in his draft before they drafted him, it was kind of entertaining to see them jump on him cougar to elephant style, but also reminded me of how Raptors fans treat me for my Jonas views
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

NICE TO SEE HIS TEAMMATES LOOKING FOR HIM FOR EASY SHOTS

I posted in the last game thread a little round up about the minute distribution and such. Looks like they played it close to the script. I also addressed that the need to look for Ves more since he doesn't produce much offense on his own. Its not his game. But assisted, he can generate more points.

That that was my issue. Will his teamates look for him to help him generate points. Well here is what the video showed.

1x Nene interior assist 4 ft one hander floater
1x Ves run to rim individual move baby hook ( kind of that KS sweeping move with a hook)
1x Nene tries the ally oop. Ves fouled
1x Beal assist pass to post after Beal/Gortat pick
1x Wall fast break assist dunk
1x tip in after Wall drive that Wall missed
1x Temple ally opp dunk to Ves
And he launch one 20 ft turnaround with the clock winding down.

5 different players had assists to Ves.. (made 4 got fouled on 1)
Ves got his own pts with 1 tip in and 1 flash drive baby hook. Both points he generated.

This is what I was getting at. If not for this teammates looking for him, he would have only had 4 pts and been a self check. Instead, they looked for him and he had 12 pts and NO had to keep an eye on him.

Ves getting better on offense is going to have as much to do with his teammates as anything.

I think what you see on the board is.

Janchise when he is scoring, specially after a nice dunk, and Vestombo when he is blocking.

I am good. Pray for my buddy. A Navy SEAL who is paralyzed, drooling on himself a bit of the time, unable to speak. Not about the damage his combat wound caused. Dude is fit mentally and can swim with sharks. My issues pale in comparison. Arthritic pains, some past boo boos, weight, mind stuff. Pray for my ex wife. She went to Iraq twice. Also over past 7 years had two brothers die of illnesses. She is not the same. Also, she was married to me 12 years.

Might explain her anger. I am pretty sexy. J/k. She has a great foil but I declare I am trying my best to not have her mad about anything. The past is just that. But a lot of women seem to stay mad. I do not understand the situation with women's feeljngs. I just try to pray to God for humility and sensitivity to women.

Nah, pray for all the BS of family court drama to go away. Strong families are what the nation needs.

I am good, getting rest, fighting the good fight. Most of all regardless, our kids are healthy.

Pray my buddy gets to see his kids! I already know in my heart he will. God chose my buddy because he knows how to suffer well. Family court made him sad for a minute but I am glad I was right there with him and saw the same righteous judge. Also will keep in touch with him.

God is Good all the time!
