I would potentially look to trade Holtby in order to keep Carlson.

Hope that Samsonov pans out.

Trading Holtby is a no brainer with Samsonov on the way. Flyers are another good match, needing a stopgap goalie and having plenty of cap space to absorb.

Remember, this is Ted Leonsis you are talking about. He's had a million straight sellouts so why rock the boat Guessing that Samsonov is not ready yet for the NHL. He's not going to risk "rebuilding" so don't expect major changes. Everybody thought there would be majors changes after last year's collapse and they did nothing other than getting rid of Marcus Johansson for cap room and letting Karl Alzner go in free agency along with Nate Schmidt in the expansion draft.

Good game by the Caps. They really were more physical and even had an excellent power play kill where I forgot for a few moments that they were shorthanded as they dominated possession. The Caps will go as far Holtby takes them. Hopefully he's the hotter goalie.

Game 7 is going to be one of the great letdowns of this decade.

If the Caps play the same style of game on Wednesday they win. Their forechecking was phenomenal and to me the key was finishing all checks, especially on TBs defenseman, slowing them down. Also only having to kill two PPs helps. 88 in Tampa, has literally kept them afloat, masking some of their defensive issues.

That was great to see. Can they finish the deal? I wouldn't lay money on them. I think this has been a very successful season unless they lay an egg on Wednesday. Love to see Ovi come through with the game-winner in regulation or OT (for first time ever in playoffs). Of course, not sure Caps fans can take a Game 7 in OT. :noway: :nonono:

Out of all the years, I think this is the best team to get over the hurdle mainly because they didn't have the pressure on them and what they've achieved in this playoffs already. Coming back from 0-2 in round 1, actually beating the penguins in round 2, and getting to game 7 after losing 3 straight. Now, I wouldn't bet on in but I'm confident that a guy like Eller or Wilson will have the GWG.

Not as much pressure but there's still some on the road in hostile territory. There's also D.C. Sports and I know it's not a curse, but it hasn't been done since 1998. I don't know if we can keep up that hitting in Game 7. Also, we need some balanced officiating as well.

I don't think there's as much because the Caps have been great on the road this postseason and have already won two games down there. It's the Lightning who are going to be tight, I believe because they haven't been nearly as good in the 5 on 5 and the caps game plan change stifled them. Officiating I think is going to be really loose and that's where we'll have the advantage. I just have this gut feeling that when they beat the Pens, spirits were lifted and freed.

For the first time in a long time, the Caps are the biggest market team left in the playoffs. So in all likelihood, the officiating shouldn't be biased against the Caps unless it happens to be incompetence.

Well, if you watched the last two games, the Caps had no power plays in Game 5 and had just one on Monday, which we scored on. They had the first PP of the night and didn't score. So yes, they are not calling much but you cannot afford to go in the box in a game like this.

Caps also out hit the Lightning 39-19. I guess the lightning could receive more calls at home.

That will always be the case. Tampa is a skilled puck possession team, no dump and chase, very little physical play.

It might come down to how close the officials call it. The more they let things go, that would typically benefit the more physical Capitals. Considering it's the 7th game, ya gotta figure the officials are not going to call penalties unless they're blatant. Again, this benefits the Caps. The Caps road record... benefits the Caps.

The Caps have these advantages, but... gotta go in there expecting things will go wrong and just hope the team gives the same kinda effort they gave in Game 6 - and the end of Game 5.
