How about Wall for Roberson, Abrines, Patterson and Luwawu-Cabarrot?

Think about a Wall/Westbrook backcourt. Probably the best trade idea so far, right?

Actually, they're saying we didn't give up a second. We agreed to swap seconds with Milwaukee.

Sixers fan in peace here.

Would you guys trade Porter + Green for Fultz + Chandler + Korkmaz? Rid yourselves of a big contract and get a former #1 pick who's a local product that might just need a change of scenery.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

A team with John Will doesn't need Fultz. And if we trade Wall, then we would no longer need to dump Porter to shed salary.

So, no.

Why not trade both? Might as well get assets/cap relief for both to rebuild as best as possible.

I tihnk there would be more suitors around for Porter than the Sixers with a busted Fultz

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Maybe, but the only rumor I've seen for Porter is the Sacramento one for expirings. I think a deal involving a young prospect + cap relief is likely the best you can get for a role player getting $27+ mil/yr over the next 2 seasons. Teams don't want to take on salary like that unless there's a unique reason to.

The Wizards aren't moving Porter for expiring deals, what exactly would be the point?

As much as I think NY is managed by idiots I doubt they pull the trigger.

I can see them trading for wall (NYC) but I can't see porzingis being involved. I can't see them wanting to trade him . It would probably be Lee, ntillikina , Baker, and Robinson a first and a couple seconds. For wall maybe a third team or something

In order to trade their 2022 second-rounder to Milwaukee, the Wizards removed the protections on the 2020 second-rounder they’re supposed to send to the Bucks, according to a league source. Pick was previously 46-60 protected in 2020 and unprotected in 2022.

Wait, I'm confused. You do or don't want expirings for Porter?

In this free agency market, it is better to have Otto Porter at $27M a year, then to dump him and have less than that much to use in free agency. What better player will join the Wizards for less than $27M a year?

No. Porter is fine. The ONLY reason we would consider trading him is if it gets out from the luxury tax. But we would much prefer to trade Wall (or even dump Oubre) to accomplish this goal.

Porter is a really good player. He is fully paid to be sure, but he is not perceived as some kind of albatross contract. Every year, he ranks 1st or 2nd on the team in on/off differential and most advanced stats (WS/48, VORP, ORtg, etc.). The Wizards need him on the floor.

And with this latest trade dumping Jason Smith, our luxtax payment just got much less painful. It was $14.4M. It is now down to $9.7M

So it would seem. Let me ask you a simple question: if Otto Porter was on your team, would you trade him for expiring salaries? Nah, I didn't think so.

Would you trade him for Markell Fultz? No.

So... why are you in here insisting over almost 1/2 dozen posts that we should take your wooden nickel for him, b/c otherwise we'd somehow be forced to deal him for pennies on the dollar?

We're already in lux tax land this year, & with this trade we take on an extra $17m in salary this year (minus the "filler" -- but how much of that is there?). Not possible.

Kanter (expiring) & Porzingis for Wall & Morris (expiring) would work.
