Lol, they really acting like this isn't a 20 win team.
I would actually be a little surprised if we finished significantly under the 24 wins Vegas projected for us. There's a great combination of veteran leadership, defensive acuity and shooting on this team. Add in that we have two scorers in Poole and Kuz who will do a great job of controlling tempo, and I actually think we're probably closer to a 28-win team than 20. Also keep in mind, as we saw early last season, teams tend to rest their stars against us. I can easily see us stealing a few games from teams who are better on paper but decided to take the night off. Not that that's anything to be proud of, but so it goes.

Re: Jump into the Poole Party: The Official Jordan Poole Thread
This is going to look like a really silly trade for GSW. They paid to give the Wizards a young all star level talent scorer.
Pool should easily go for 25+ ppg this season and it even looks like it could be around 30.

I think people are jumping the gun here just a little bit. This is the same Poole who shot 2-13 the game before.
He will have nights like last night, and that's great (for his trade value), but there's going to be stinkers too, and you have to be ready for those nights as well.

Yup…both the 2-13 game and last night’s game fall under the heading of small sample size. But these #s don’t and they’re reason to be excited about what Poole brings to the Zards.

The exciting part is the 16 FTA's. Beal last attempted 16+ FT's in the 2019-20 season, and it took him 37 minutes of playing time.

It's looking good. 25ppg on modest efficiency would be a strong trade chip moving forward. Of course, I'd prefer he just prove to be a winning player and we keep him, but we'll see.

Yeah like if he's better than beal. You keep him on that contract for a couple years and if he isn't does anyone want him but us?Dark Faze wrote:It's looking good. 25ppg on modest efficiency would be a strong trade chip moving forward. I hope I'm not jinxing him but Poole also plays almost every game as opposed to Beale.

Re: Jump into the Poole Party: The Official Jordan Poole Thread
21 years later its really Gilbert Arenas all over again. Interestingly 12 years since Gil's last in DC and John Wall's beginning here. It feels written that we steal another dynamic ball handler and future all-star guard. A former Golden State Warrior who outplayed his modest draft status because he outworked everyone else, is a natural showman, absolutely fearless (had no issues looking off Steph in high leverage moments) and an absolute Wizard with the ball in his hands. The Wizards lucked up on a guy who has no problem being the #1 option. The Wiz may not win much this season but the cupboard isn't bare with Poole & Coulibaly.

And JP is a very good FT shooter.

Re: Jump into the Poole Party: The Official Jordan Poole Thread
I just wonder what happened to Poole in the playoff. Just seemed like he was a shell of him former self. He shot only 25% from 3 and only 4 free throws during the whole series against the Lakers. And his numbers were arguably worse against the Kings.
That being said, Poole has had some of the wildest swings from any player recently. He is the case brought up in the Johnny Davis discussion of players who had horrible rookie reasons who turned out fine.
Maybe WEs Unseld Jr. can bring more out of Poole than Steve Kerr. At least Poole is firing way primarily from 3 rather than in the mid range.

I hope Unseld Jr has the balls to pull him when he has his 6-25 nights. I'd rather see losing team basketball than losing selfish basketball.

If Poole is fairly efficient most games—and getting to the FT line—I don’t think you pull him simply because he’s having a bad shooting game.
He’s easily the Zards best offensive player and we’re gonna have to live with the ups and downs.

The problem is the tone you're setting when you let him miss shot after shot with no penalty. It's the type of basketball I thought the Wizards were trying to move away from.
He's 19-60 in the preseason. That can't continue.
