I have NEVER seen a more pathetic effort by a Maryland team than in the first 10 minutes of this game. If they could really give a **** about this game then why should I? It honestly looks like they didn't even prepare for this thing.

Patience, my friend. Lead down to 6, potentially 4 with two Milbourne free throws.

Gary's not going anywhere. At least not yet.

Agreed.

And he shouldn't be going anywhere, anyway.

Good win for the Terps.

A win over Wake MIGHT be enough. Two more wins for sure gets them in the dance.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

me? patient? nahhhhh :)

I think it's actually better that they got their suckyness out of the way early instead of being up by 13 and then falling asleep. I was getting pretty scary though when we were down 21-8...cursing and hitting crap galore. But hey, just goes to show you that when your 3's are falling you're in good shape to win games. Good to FINALLY see Hayes step up and have a signature game and man, that Squez 3 at the end was just huge.

It's all about tomorrow night. We play a team that has the size and talent advantage over us...can we get it done? I think probably not but at least we had showed some pride by beating a team that clearly didn't deserve to end our season.

WOOOOOH!!!

Yeah, ok. Let's come out firing tomorrow. I really think we need to start Hayes. Mosley hasn't hit a layup in about a month and he hasn't taken a jumper in 2. Bowie should also sit more and Tucker should get more minutes. Vasquez is a lot more effective with Hayes, Tucker and Neal surrounding him, all shooters and Milbourne able to hit the midrange or finish underneath. Bring Bowie, Gregory and Mosley in when we need to lock down on D. Or some combination of both. meh

Hayes seems more comfortable coming off of the bench. I'd keep him there.

But I do think we need to add size to our starting lineup, even if it means down-grading starting lineup talent.

Bowie
Vasquez
Milbourne
Neal
Gregory

With Hayes, Mosley and Tucker (and occasionally Dupree and Burney) off of the bench.

seriously....Mosley is starting to really irritate me with the blown layups. How about Dino tonight? Definitely came up huge for us. I just really hope they play their most focus and intense game of the year tomorrow. I mean, they had this same team at home and came up just short with a lot of things going against them (rebounding, FTs, etc.). Here's hoping we're all jumping around with excitement at this same time tomorrow.

Great win for the Terps and nice to see Hayes have a big game.

It would be just like old times to see the Terps make the NCAA tourney again. It's hard to believe that they use to hold the most consecutive appearance streak for many years. Ah, those were the days... 8-)

Miller, Burney was officially ruled out for the year about a week back.

Also, your starting lineup gives us no big off the bench so that won't really work. Hayes just needs to play 30 minutes it seems and Tucker should play more than Mosley.

There are ways to always have a big on the floor without starting only one of the two primary ones (Neal and Gregory).

Start out with the starting-5 I proposed. Bring Gregory out after about 5 or 6 minutes of play. Neal plays the 5, Milbourne moves to the 4.

Take Neal out after about 10 minutes of play. Put Dupree in for about 5 minutes. Take Dupree out and put Gregory back for another 5 minutes.

Repeat for the next half.

Neal plays about 20-25 minutes each game. Gregory plays about 15-20 per game. Dupree plays about 10 minutes.

^^^ These also happen to be the season averages for each player (approx.).

I liken this idea to what we Wizards fans were clamoring about when Eddie Jordan would always take Butler and Jamison out at the same time (and at this point, we didn't have Arenas to complete the "Big Three). We all thought one of Butler or Jamison should be on the floor at all times, even though they both started the game. When Tapscott took over (this was before we lost all hope for the playoffs), he actually did manage to do this - one of the few things he's done that I really like (or liked).

EDIT: And thanks for the information about Burney. That kind of sucks....

There seems to be a meme circulating through the press that if the Terps get 2 wins then they're in the Tournament. I am kinda skeptical about that. Three would probably be enough though - that would almost certainly mean that two of the three wins were against Top 25 teams (Wake and Whomever is Up Next). Who agrees with the meme? Is two wins enough? Seems like there have been a lot of upsets in the conference tournaments so far. Might mean fewer at-large bids for bubble teams.

So here we are again ladies and gentlemen; one win away from dancing. With the Providence, Arizona and New Mexico losses last night we're in great shape to get into this thing if we can pull off a miracle victory tonight. Might still need a few things to happen (Vtech losing today would be great, Xavier beating Temple would be greater, etc.).

Can we do it?

Well, Tech lost (though it was a great game and near win). Xavier/Temple play at 6:30.

This is setting up to be an incredible night. Can we do it?!

If we make 20 3's, we can win. 5 for Hayes, 5 for Vasquez, 4 for Neal, 3 for Tucker, 2 for Bowie, and 1 for Milbourn. It's almost impossible for MD to score inside against Wake, so it'll be raining 3's. Whooo! Go Terps!

Strong first half for the Terps. Excellent defense (as I have come to expect every game) and our offense has been just good enough to grab a decent lead.

Dino Gregory has been really solid, too. Impressed with him.

You have to think Teague is going to explode in the 2nd half. Something like 15 points - that's what I'm expecting.

If only Vasquez could shoot...he'd be a special player instead of just good.
