CCJ, I love ya man, but you're making it sound like Lattimore's the reason we didn't beat the Eagles. I'll give you props in that you were more tempered about the trade than everyone else, but I think you're leaning too far the other direction by trashing him a little too much.
Lattimore isn't an all-pro, but he's also not cooked. There's a wide spectrum in between and imo he falls on the net positive side somewhere, especially compared with who we had been putting out there at CB.
He started 2 regular season games and 3 playoff games for us.
in the regular season games, NO didn't throw his way at all, and against the Eagles, they threw to him 10 times, completing 5 of them for 68 yards and a TD. He missed 0 tackles and gave up 8 YAC. Not great, but not bad for being targeted so heavily.
in the playoffs, he gave up 5 completions on 6 targets lined up against Mike Evans and a TD. he gave up 1 of 2 for 11 yards against the Lions, no TDs on him. Against the Eagles, he gave up 4 of 6 for 77 yards and had that PI call lined up against Devonta Smith in the red zone on 3rd and 8 when the game was close, no TDs thrown on him.
so overall, he gave up 1 TD in the regular season (the entire season, both with NO and WAS) and 1 TD in the postseason (against Tampa in the wildcard). eye test shows that he couldn't run right, probably because the hammy was still bothering him, but he was skilled enough to not give up any big plays, and I don't think the PI against Smith was egregious.
at worst, the jury is still out on whether injuries have robbed him of the ability to play corner in the league. at best, he just needs to heal his hammy and he'll be an above-average corner next season. he's not going to be a pro bowler, or Lattimore Island for us, but he'd be better than a 4th round rookie or whoever we were going to play ahead of him.
