If the Wizards had dumped John Wall for this kind of return I'd be done. It would end my fandom. Ever since they fired Geoff Petrie they've been catastrophically awful. They are the worst franchise in American pro sports.

Is there any humanly possible way to have a core of Wall, Beal, Otto and Cousins without severely underpaying both Otto and Cousins? Or is this a pipe dream?

not if we waive a rookie and thornton. i think

we don't even have to do that.
We are 8 million under the tax.
and per http://hoopshype.com
Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception ($5.628 million in 2016-17):

The largest mid-level exception available to teams is the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, which is available to teams that are under the luxury tax apron, which is always $4 million above the luxury tax line. Players can be signed up to four years with 4.5 percent annual raises each season.

Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception ($3.477 million in 2016-17):

The taxpayer mid-level exception is available to teams above the luxury tax apron, and it works similarly with 4.5 percent raises each season after a fixed starting salary, but one major difference to the non-taxpayer version is that players can only be signed up to three years.

Room Mid-Level Exception ($2.898 million in 2016-17):

“Room” is the lowest of the three mid-level exceptions and available to teams that are under the cap enough to lose the more valuable exceptions. The room exception is also shorter in terms of maximum years, and players can only be signed up to two years.

So no, and with his injury history we might be able to talk him into staying next year at the room too for some guaranteed money and trying his luck next year on the FA market. Interesting indeed. I think with his injury history he will go after his biggest pay say tbh. Which won't be cleavland.

This is a great deal imo. I doubt we land a better player with our second. He had a solid season or two in Houston. Way better than Nicholson.

This + signing Tyreke would be a dream come true, we keep our pick and upgrade our bench.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

I don't even think you need a second
offer Burke and thornton for jones and Cunningham and they might take it straight up, Sure a second would be fine by me but they might just take it to balance out that team.

it was a tweet by kennedy or woj.
and to be honest it makes sense, they probably don't want a 27 year old injury prone guy for half a seonse that they are rebuilding on. that they let leave the franchise in the first place. Plus they have to waive 1 or 2 people to get to a 15 man roaster, and they don't have man other options plus with him on the team half the team is a SG lol.

They were like that at the end of the Pacers game too. Paul George was palling around with Wall and Beal as his team lost. He wants to play with Wall.

How did we get Wall to sign a five year deal with no player option when Indy couldn't do the same with George? Indy was actually winning games at the time. The fact that we did gives us such a huge advantage for keeping Wall. If DeMarcus Cousins or Paul George want to use their free agency to team up with Wall, they have to come here.

Honestly, if we cleared the cap space for him, I think we have a really good opportunity to sign George in 2018.

poor Garrett Temple. I agree with you that it makes a lot of sense to waive him, you just don't see players of that caliber getting waived very often. the list of interested teams would be a long one also

I say again, that leg scares me. Let's just focus all our good vibes towards T.Evans getting bought out and coming here to DC!

Earlier in the day someone screenshotted this little gem of a trade proposal by a Sacramento fan.

Image

At first I laughed. But now I just feel bad for their fanbase. Such optimism that they thought they could get all that for Omri Casspi and Kosta Koufos's stupid deal. Fast forward a few hours and they're getting less than that for Omri Casspi and DeMarcus Cousins    :D :) :o

A lights-out scorer on the second unit would be good... But who needs scoring when you have a defensive bench unit like that :|

maybe they can sign Tyreke straight up, then trade for a scoring PF, not named Terrence Jones. maybe a wing that can play stretch 4 idk.

one thing is forsure: they need to go get Tyreke is he's available
