President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Figured we would hear something from the Ds on how to fix ACA by now - crickets.
Where is that third party again?
Huh? Republicans control congress that last I checked.
Huh? D's can have proposals? (just having fun - back at you)
The context - way earlier in the thread - was that the ACA needed tweaks. When asked, Ds haven't proposed solutions.
A bit like the Rs when the Ds were in power.
Hence that comment "Where is that third party again?"
Come on gtn, keep up
This is a ridiculous ask right now. We're barely in the second month, and the Republicans have tried to cram through a health care bill that took Democrats 13 months to get through. To think the Democrats should be spending their time in the first 60 days crafting a fantasy plan that nobody will look at really does deserve a "Come on, are you serious???"
The only time that makes sense is after this initiative crashes and burns, assuming it does. After Trump has been burned, he may be interested in brokering a compromise for what constitutes the nearly nonexistent middle. At that point, it would make all the sense in the world. Until then, it would be worse than helpful - putting forth a plan to collect slings and arrows as a political football actually would hurt chances later.

Karma's a bitch. What goes around comes around so don't complain or karma will slap you upside the head even harder. Speaking from experience.
So, you joining that third-party with me Zonk?
Our problem isn't the lack of a third party, although that would be nice. The problem is that one of the parties has become so desperate to hand the country over to a handful of billionaires that they've fully embraced "the ends justify the means" approach to governing. To me, if you have to lie and cheat to get what you want, maybe you don't deserve to get what you want? A third party isn't going to change the fact that half of our voting public supports Trump, either because they believe lying and cheating is fine, or they are such huge hypocrites that they pretend that somehow having a lying hypocrite as president is better than having a Democrat.
That's INSANE. That's the part of this that I just don't understand - just how downright EVIL and/or INCOMPETENT does the Republican representative have to be before you realize you are backing the wrong horse? Are we that BROKEN as a society that we would rather have a poo-flinging monkey in office than a Democrat?
You may disagree with the Democrats policies, and that's fine. I personally am not nuts about assassinating people with drones, for example. I disagree with racism and xenophobia and intolerance in general - the VERY WORST thing a Democrat has ever said about the racism and xenophobia and intolerance in Trump's base is that it is "deplorable." AND IT'S TRUE. Trump says Obama committed TREASON by illegally demanding a wiretap of Trump tower. IT IS A HUGE LIE AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT. And Trump supporters shrug it off. "Well, it's a lie, but it's a lie about Obama, who is evil incarnate and the ends therefore justify the means." Or something. Frankly I try not to get in the heads of crazy people. Because it is INSANE what is going on right now. Trump is literally insane, and a huge block of our electorate is ACTUALLY SAYING "well this is better than Hillary!"
There is MORE EVIDENCE NOW that Trump's campaign collectively committed high treason by selling our election out to the Russians than there was of ANY WRONGDOING WHATSOEVER from Hillary's email snafus. What about those emails now bitches? And there's Trump supporters on Quora now complaining that "liberals won't give Trump a chance!" A chance to do what, set the White House on fire?
Half of our country has lost its mind. How would a third party fix that?
I've been taught all my life to value service to the weak and powerless.

Do you think Rs think Trump is a Republican?
And I think that the public said yes to that poo flinger vs. Hillary
I think that both the Rs and Ds have pretty low approval ratings. And neither side meets in the middle. Maybe a third party is just the ticket.

Why is trump pushing this bill if his closest advisor is panning it?

If there was any real demand or momentum for a robust and influential third party we would have one by now. Even with the divisiveness and political mess we currently have I don’t hear or see any concrete talk about starting a third political party.
When I hear mention of a third party that would supposedly capture those who are neither on the right or the left I’m reminded of this quote: “There's nothing in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos.”

Too funny
I do think there is room for a political party in the middle. But the ingrained structure makes it very difficult to get off the ground.
But you are right - well, until the approval rates for both parties plummets into the teens

As for Trump's assertion that Obama wiretapped him, Nunes repeated Friday what he has said previously, telling reporters, "That didn't happen."
However, Nunes on Wednesday had left an impression — widely repeated in the news media — that the conversations of Trump and his aides were picked up by American spies.
"I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show the president elect and his team were at least monitored and disseminated out," Nunes told reporters.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I think there is and has been massive demand for additional parties - not a single party. There is pent up demand on the left and right for sure, but I'd guess the real demand that is unmet is in whatever constitutes the middle these days.
The problem isn't demand, there are systemic barriers that have been put in place at the local, state and national level over more than a hundred years. Its a radical change to our democracy - one I would fully support.

The man had little credibility on this issue prior to his stunt, now he has none. He should either recuse himself or step down. When people from your own party like John McCain say you have no credibility, you really have no credibility.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XIII
Yeah, this is a pretty clear sign that the House intelligence committee has become completely partisan. Now we have Schiff and Nunes continually holding dueling press statements. While Schiff retains his credibility, he's reacting in a partisan way as well, releasing little nuggets like he has seen more than circumstantial evidence. He may have no choice given the toady-like actions of Nunes, but it still means there is not much value to that committee, which may be Nunes' goal.
The Senate Intel committee still seems to be functioning at least.
