Let's just bide our time until Ben Simmons' pouting drives his value low enough to be within reach.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLI
It's unfortunate that the Sixers front office has a better calibrated sense of how valuable he is than many fans - particularly of the team. You get the sense that if popular consensus dictated things he'd have been gone essentially as a dump of salary.
Also because I know he's an imperfect player and not everyone is equally a fan here - he's pretty inarguably one of the very best defenders in the NBA. Sure, his limitations can lead to his being targeted to a degree later in the postseason or whatever, but you have to be a talented enough team to get to the conference finals to then be out-schemed in them.

Is this really necessary gambitx777? What has Simmons done to deserve such ugliness from you?

Gambling issues? Meaning he probably lost a lot of $$$$ betting on the Sixers.

I even revised that and took about 20 words off. It's well documented that I don't have a high opinion of Ben Simmons and I find the way he's acting detestable, tasteless, week AF, and unacceptable.DCZards wrote:gambitx777 wrote:I don't even want to entertain putting that pussy ass piece of soft baby **** whiny little brick layer Ben Simmons on this team.

Seriously embid and doc gave him some tough love but nothing that should have burned the bridge. He's acting like a child and it's killing his value and costing the team a ton of potential assets and making everyone look like an idiot. Then two teams that could probably provide the best players (Portland) or one of the better asset packages (Toronto) . He doesn't wanna go to. Not that he has a choice but he's acting like such a baby they sent gonna play ball with philly. I can't stand someone with the wholes in his game that he has, acting like he's a super star of MJ or browns caliber. Also I don't think those two would ever act this childish.

I’ve read some of what Ben’s agent (not him) said about Simmons not wanting to play in Portland. And I don’t think it warrants your attacks on Ben’s character.
They make you sound and look childish.

if I offended you I will apologize. But as for looking any particular way, I don't really care, I'm not saying anything I wouldn't say to the dudes face. The only person in the league I dislike more than Ben is Lebron. Imo the only person acting childish is the dude getting paid 33 mill a year to whine about how mean embid and the 6ers org was to him.DCZards wrote:gambitx777 wrote:I even revised that and took about 20 words off. Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLI
The key player to watch for the 76ers might not even be Simmons but Embiid. If we could land him, we'd be legit contenders. This whole Ben Simmons show is such a disaster.76ers should trade him years ago. Regardless, barring a Lillard/Simmons trade it's tough to imagine that the 76ers could remain contenders after Simmons gets moved. To the 76ers credit they really tried to put a functional team around the two. The problem is that now with a potential Simmons trade, that roster has a glaring hole. Simmons played both pg and guarded the opposing team's best offensive wing/guard. No one that they will add in the Simmons trade will be to do both. Don't be surprised if Embiid wants out.

Ben Simmons is also a point guard.

Dinwiddie for Simmons? I think we can execute that trade in 90 days.

It's not tough love when you go to the press. They let their frustration get the better of them and now the relationship is ruined. As far as Toronto and Portland being able to give the best offers for him and him not wanting to go there that's just business. You might not like it but players are allowed to have opinions. Simmons does not want to go through a rebuild. How is this any diiferent than any other player saying what they want? Much better to say it now instead of waiting until after and ruining the franchise he goes to.
Wow, just saw the initial comment. Relax bro. It's just basketball.

Shocking, this prima donna wants to go to only to select teams in California. You think this whole thing may have brought him a little humility, nope more of the same. Nothing in his behavior shows he is going to change, but hopefully this eliminates any microscopic change he lands here.

It's something to think about abstractly but I don't think there's any way you make this deal. Simmons is an interesting piece to consider but you really have to wonder where his head is. Any team that trades for Ben has to know 1) that he wants to be there and 2) that he's willing to work/improve his jumpshot. I'd be willing to give up assets for Simmons. I think a Dinwiddie/Beal/Simmons core could work because both Dinwiddie and Beal could play off-ball. But I think the better move is to plan for Embiid in 2 years. If something comes about that Simmons would be open to playing in DC then we'd have to look hard at it.

Ehhh... I'd move Kuzma for him as Markkanen is a higher ceiling version, but nothing else.

I'd send Hachimura and Avdija out for Simmons. Add some cap ballast like Kuzma and Harrell. Starting lineup would include Bertans and Simmons as forwards. I'd try to keep KCP and Kispert, too, for their shooting.
It would be expensive once Beal signs for 50 mil a year, but maybe worth it. It would also be a nice hedge to have Simmons and Dinwidde in case Beal leaves or gets traded.
This would be swinging for the fences, like Tommy said he wanted to do. There's some risk there, but there is pretty good upside.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?
