Anyone read today's Post/Express where Randy praises John and blames the teams offensive woes on the wings not keeping-pace with John. Paraphrasing, can't link to the articles now.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread 2.0
Randy pulled him early-ish but when he had 10 dimes at the half I was hoping we'd see Johnny get 20 assists against Miami. That'd get the league talking and we'd get more respect from the refs and pundits. Still, smooth efficient game and at least one heat-check three that went in. I watched the Miami feed and they couldn't help but gush about his game, even while starting with the misperception that he used to be a selfish gunner. No man, he's always been pass-first, he just had no one to pass to (Vesely, Chris Singleton etc).

Yeah. I was hoping for 20 dimes as well. But it sure was fun to see the guys relaxing and having fun with the game against the Heat -- the loathesome friggin' Heat -- well in hand.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread 2.0
Though I think he's mostly moved laterally in his offensive development since year three, I'm surprised to see that his floor game, particularly his half court passing and running of the offense, seems to have a higher ceiling than I anticipated.
As a floor general John is seeing the floor unbelievably well of late. We all remember his first two years where his half court game was basically attack and dish. From there we were elated to see him start to grasp the pick and roll better once Gortat got here. Its taken on another life now. He's just seeing everything now. He's creating shots in the half court that I didn't even see as being possible from the broadcast view.
I just am so proud of this kid. Especially in the wake of what happened with RGIII--it's so important to realize what he's accomplished and overcome.

And while I get irked when he doesn't fight through screens on D and forces his Big to switch the pick, when he dials in he is omnipresent on D:
Covers the wide-open Jordan Hill, then the Lin pump fake, then blocks Lin's shot. Too quick, he's everywhere all at once. F--- DWade, Wall is the Black Flash.

I just want to say I am very happy that John Wall is a decent, humble human being. He is making the most of the path God has given him in life. John didn't have an easy upbringing. He could have made some really bad choices and not been where he is today. Wall seems to be a very wise young man. He's a good guy. That counts for a whole lot more than how well you play basketball.
On top of that, I am enjoying seeing the joy in his face this season. Wall is enjoying great success. He has earned it.

I'd attribute a lot of that due to coaching him to slow himself down. Before it was 100mph every possession, where in the NBA that isn't going to work, so he has learned and been coached to slow it down and let the possession and decision come to him by reacting to the defense. That was my main concern about Wall, however he's definitely improved vastly in that aspect. I don't think he'll ever be a good shooter and will remain average to possibly above average, but that isn't his game and it doesn't need to be with the way he facilitates so well.
He has definitely matured and added wrinkles to his game. His skills have vastly expanded since they drafted him. He really was a very very raw prospect at 20
He still seems to be a little stiff in what he does but I am seeing flashes of what I would call Smooth Moves. I think as time goes on from the initial time he added a skill and as their as less things to add, he is settling in to the fine art of the skill and trusting it which brings out his confident and smooth to this game.
He made a play yesterday .. I think to Nene '' where he drove and did this little baby interior dish for an assist and two pts.. Smooth Move
In another recent game he drove. When he got to about the area where Nene usually posts up he did a hesitation dribble, the defender dropped back then the trailing defender had to stop or they would have climbed his back, then Wall took one step forward and hit the floater. Kind a Tony Parker type move.. Smooth.
Maybe his least smooth move right now is when he is up top trying to set up his man and he is doing those high dribble cross overs. That is some ugly stuff. I would like to see him mix in and get better at low dribble cross overs and tighten up that action. Gil up top he is not but thats the kind of dribbling I'm talking about. Like Gil, Harden is a master at it. This is something Wall can greatly improve on that would make him super dangerous.
James Worthy says he puts John Wall in his top-5 PGs. Says Wall is a do - it - all type basketball player.
Wall has flaws, and we know them well. But he IS getting better.

Wall's TS of 51.3% ranks 42nd among pgs. That isn't going to change until he stops jacking up all those long 2s early in the clock.

I think its safe to assume Wall's efficiency and shot selection won't improve under Wittman. Realistically, I hope he starts taking care of the ball more consistently. As the continuity builds I hope the turnovers decrease.

Yep, but to CCJ's point - he is getting better. Yes, the long two's are still a weakness.
But his defensive intensity is much better. His driving the pace of the game is much better.

And that isn't going to stop as long as Wittman is encouraging, coaching & pleading with his guys that those are good shots. I remember a timeout maybe a week or two ago (I'm thinking the Cleveland game) where Wittman was screaming at them in the huddle midway through the 4th quarter to not be passive and take those open shots that the D is giving... I even heard Wall's voice as he tried to give some additional feedback before Wittman told him "no no, take the open shot!"
So I have to ask, why do we keep putting the burden on Wall to quit taking shots that the coach is demanding the he takes?
To be honest I thought Cassell was a big part of the problem by forcing his mid-range game on everyone in shouting distance (even Witt alluded to this a couple years back as something they need to watch out for) but it appears that Witt may even be more culpable for the Wizards continually wasting away a significant chunk of their possessions on long 2s.

I've accepted it. No use complaining. Only hope he becomes a better shooter.

Because he is frequently taking them before anyone else touches the ball. I seriously doubt Wittman's offense is designed for Wall to come down and shoot a long 2 without passing to anyone.

:54, 1:04, and 3:06 are all terrible shots -- midrange jumpers, early in the shot clock, before anyone else touches the ball. They're doubly terrible because when John makes them, he's inclined to take more of them -- and they are low success rate shots that bog down the efficiency of an offense that's already mediocre.
John MUST learn -- hopefully with the guidance of the coaching staff, front office, and analytics team, that these shots are hurting the team and need to be severely curtailed. It's not that John should never shoot from midrange, but he can get that shot whenever he wants with the shot clock running down. Use your godly point guard skills to get the team a better look.

Re: Official John Wall Appreciation Thread 2.0
Wall manages to be a scorer in spite of a highschool quality jumpshot. He works hard- doesn't have an issue off the court (see Gil who was amazing and crazy as $€¥£) and is already an elite point leading the number 1 team in the east-
I love wall but realistically apart from Isaiah and Magic - when was a point guard the best player on a team? Please Don't say chancy- please.... He was the best in finals but not all year on that Detroit team. Wall can't carry us to the ring but he can be a part of KDs first ring!
