Love Joel Embiid talking trash. "The Lakers are FOREVER gonna be Kobe's and Magic's team...Process that."

Guess Lakers will have to get Kawhi somehow. Here's another cheap signing.

Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

It’s becoming very likely LeBron will be back with cavs.
It’s always at the time of the year the wizards just watch the nba world improve around them and we play catch up from here on.

Weird. For some reason I thought backup centers cost $15-16 million/year.

Imagine if Ernie never panicked and instead of signing Mahinmi he would've given Zaza Pachulia that rumoured 2y/20M contract. Unbelievable that he still has a job.
I really like what Phoenix is doing and I'm definitely gonna watch them more this season. Ariza should be very good locker room presence and mentor for their young wings.

So our Paul George rental might have actually worked out. Sigh.

Best not to take potentially lucrative chances, especially if your franchise is a laughing-stock and currently mired in mediocrity for the foreseeable future.

Thunder have to offer Carmelo and a first to someone right? No way they pay $130 million repeater tax?
Melo to Orlando and make that 2020 pick unprotected and throw in another 2nd round pick?

There's still the Kawhi rental. Maybe the Spurs would trade him to us to spite every other team. Otto, Sato, Brown, 1st. Or Beal + stuff. I don't think Ingram or Fultz are as appealing as they should be for a number 1 & 2.

Uh you would think- some people think Wall and Beals contracts are bad..and they could be in the long run...but they are the only wiz that would get the same deals this year as last...from multiple teams. Otto wouldn’t get max and no way our boy at center sees that 16mil without a oceans 11 mobs assistance. Ernie...Erine...Ernie

The Thunder could waive/stretch Melo and save 91 million this season, although I'm not sure how it changes their long term cap.

True - but it does constrain then moving forward. I have to wonder if Orlando would do that trade? If I am Orlando, I try to get that done. In addition to making the 2020 pick unprotected, I add a second round pick and (if I have to) agree to take one of Orlando's centers (guessing they are going to want to dump Biyombo at this point).
2020 first round draft pick to Orlando - Oklahoma City's 2020 1st round pick to Orlando (via Philadelphia) protected for selections 1-20; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Oklahoma City will instead convey its 2022 2nd round pick and 2023 2nd round pick to Orlando [Oklahoma City-Philadelphia, 11/1/2016; Orlando-Philadelphia, 6/22/2017]

If the Lakers get Clint Cappella, that could be the first domino to fall for them, but would Capella, Bron, Leonard be enough to get the Lakers back into contention?

Contention yes, but not past healthy Warriors. The west is insanely loaded with good teams.
Celtics appear to be playing long game and going to pounce when Anthony Davis becomes available once disgruntled and Philly will do something smart as well. Those are only two teams in East I think would make playoffs in West in coming year.
