I mean, who is the best free agent to sign with the Wizards in the past 20 years (minus MJ)? Maybe Larry Hughes? Idk but for him to say that shows how freaking out of touch he is with reality. Great free agents don’t sign to bottom feeders.

Yep, I forgot Gilbert was a free agent. For some reason I was thinking we got Gilbert in a trade. Anyway, I do remember the coin flip story, so even that signing was a boy of a fluke.

Gilbert Arenas in 2003.

Michael Jordan in late 1999 to become President and then two years later on veteran minimum in his comeback.

So 10-game losing streak for the team that “never tanks”. Well done Theodore, well done.

Come on, that's mean. They've just been unlucky with injuries and lost some close games. All they need is to get healthy and trade assets for a veteran. Things will be better soon. Play-in-tournament, here we come!

Everything has to come together just right for a team to go on a 10 game losing streak.

Longest streak this season is 11 games, the tanking Spurs. Wiz are now #2.

Going back to last year, the Wiz are getting there. Worst streak last year was Houston with 15. Followed by Detroit with 14, then Houston again with 12.

Coming up, team has away games w
Phoenix
Utah
Sacramento

Then home games with
Philadelphia
Phoenix

And away against Orlando

It'll be pretty hard for them to hit 15, but I'm pulling for them! They at least can pass San Antonio's streak, all they have to do is to lose against Phoenix and Utah. They can do it!!

IMO, to be this bad, coaching is super important; I mean, look at Miami's injury problems, and their longest losing streak this year is 4 games. But Tommy should get credit, too, for laying the foundation. And Ted, for relying on consultants rather than rolling up his sleeves to discover the obvious. It's a team effort.

Turd is a coward. Doubt he shows his face at his courtside seat when they play home games.

RealGm wire says that Zach LaVine says that the Bulls' losing (current losing streak: 4 games) is "embarrassing". Nice to hear somebody from a team with 11 wins say he's not happy with it...

Bulls are 11-18, similar to but better than the Wiz's 11-20. They're 3-7 in their last 10, as opposed to...

Am wondering who has the worse roster. Especially with Ball being out, my vote is that the Bulls' roster is worse. Though their records are similar.

Quite the opposite…saw a tweet last week showing Beal as having the most TOs in the clutch this year and last year

Actually, Beal looks exceptionally good in the clutch so far this year, other than the turnovers. He is shooting a better FG% than everybody in the top 25. Here is that same chart:

In reality, it doesn't make a lot of sense to compare total numbers. Some guys have had more clutch opportunities than others. If you look at the guys with the highest USG rates, and weed out the low-minute guys with sample size issues, it looks like this:

Image

Beal still leads everyone in TS%, but has a frightening TO ratio as well. The PIE (Player Impact Estimate) is the best stat they use to consolidate all of the statistical production. It's sort of like PER in that it would encapsulate the positives of his shooting percentage while factoring the negatives from his turnovers. Going by PIE, Beal is still among the very best in the group, behind only Embiid, Butler, Lillard, Kawhi, Bane and Jokic.

Of all the things to complain about this season, Beal's lack of clutchness isn't one of them.

I'll give Ted another chance if he orders a full rebuild with a new front office.

I mean, what if Wes is doing a masterful job of massaging a tank from this mess, under orders from the higher ups?

I guess anything is possible. I've never seen Ted comment on a draft prospect before so its interesting. At least we know Ted is aware of a generational prospect in the draft. Now the proof in the pudding will come over the next few weeks.

Actually Chicago & Toronto have decisions to make in the next few weeks too although the Bulls pick is only top 4 protected.

Based on past behavior, Toronto is more likely to tank than not.

Chicago seems less likely to me but very possible.

But in any case, Orlando has been playing well lately, and they'll likely have a better record than the Wiz.

In the end, somebody will get hot and somebody will tank and it's hard to know who, but it's useful to look at what it took to hit #10 in the either conference the last few years:

Eastern Western
2022. 43-39 34-48
2021 33-39 33-39
2019 39-43 37-45
2018. 36-46 42-40
2017. 37-45 34-48

The average is about 37 wins, but wow you can really suck and still make it in the right year.

So the Wiz can go 26-27 the rest of the way and still have a really good shot to make the playoffs.

Ted's dream of the play in is still very much alive, unfortunately. They need to trade Kuzma sooner than later.
