i just realized that its going to be hard to take terrence jones out of that starting PF spot though...he's shooting really well

Imagine him getting a defensive rebound and trying to lead the break himself, ignoring Wall running right beside him. Then throwing a pass at the last second that goes out of bounds. That is the reality of Smith. He isn't going to change.

From his 4th through 7th seasons, his TS% was .520, .533, .536 & .540 respectively. If he can get back to that level of efficiency, he can be useful because he's still a good defender at this stage.

Still that is pretty bad for a pf. His foul shooting has fallen off a cliff so it is doubtful he can get back to that level. He used to shoot 70% from the line.

He would be better off playing on a team with an alpha scorer where he wouldn't see the ball much. He would probably be good on the Cavs.

If Josh Smith is holding out for a starting spot, he might have to play for the Sixers.

I think he would be best utilized as a back-up PF and "small ball" Center.

OTOH, aren't Smith's clanging 20 foot clanging Js perfect for Randy "long midrange J" Wittman's offense?

Jones has been out hurt. he is only played 4 games.

I don't want Smove anywhere near this team regardless of cost...and that's just from a basketball perspective. When you account for his personality....it would for me test my fandom.

what's truly hilarious is the idea of Kobe and Smith playing together on the Lakers.
That duo could probably end world hunger if they teamed up.

Smith is friends with Dwight and Rondo. I believe they played on the same HS team.

I think it was Oak Hill Acadamy or something like that.

Tontoz he is actually best friends with Smith.....they did indeed play together at Oak Hill.

Also see this article from earlier this year. Expect Smith in Dallas. Signing Smith could keep Rondo a Maverick. Also not a horrible place to be a sixth man defensive type.

Howard will be recruiting him too. It is a lock he winds up in Houston or Dallas. Funny considering the drama that went on with those two teams over the summer.

Howard and Smith have known each other since elementary school i believe.

The guy is in a very unique position by being a player who can be really good and getting to pick your team during the season, meaning you already know who is good unlike being a free agent in the offseason. Would be foolish to think he'd pick us over his buddies on contending Western Conference teams.
