The Republicans Made Trump and now they have to deal with the ramifications of him getting the undereducated vote that is sick and tired of the status quo. To me it's fairly interesting to watch Trump (the richest Canidate in the pool) appeal to people that will never set foot in a restaurant that he would dare eat in while they say they can relate to a man with a private fleet of planes. Maybe I am naive but I don't think Trump is rasist, sexist, facist or any other ist...except an egoist. Trumps ego and business accumene taught him to maximize his oppertunities and that's what he is doing here. Saying what appeals to the voters to get elected- Trump may even believe he is going to do some of the things he is saying he is going to do...but if/when he wins the White House...he is going to pull an Obama (and every other president) and back out of the promises that his aids say..."mr president this is some BS...you can't do that" ...at that point Trump will say like Obama said... "Get me the details" and if he is as smart as Obama he will say...No to shutting down Guantanamo Bay-- Trumps Guantanamo Bay will be that stupid wall and the deportation of the Mexicans...I hope- If not things could get real crazy for a minute if Trump actually attempts to "secure the boarder". The lack of drug and weapons funds going both directions will put a stress on the World Economy in ways I can only imagine. People are fooling themselves if they think we couldn't secure the boarder NOW if we wanted. And people are further fooling themselves if they think that stopping the illegal drug and weapons industry that flows over the southern border and that is dependent on and FUELed by American dollars won't have a negative impact our economy. Also what do you think the butterfly effect will be if we closed the boarder- Can you imagine how bad things will get on the northern boarder?? (Import and export)

Wake up people...this is just talk... I hope

I think it is Cobra. TBH, my father always taught me in life you may piss people off, get a divorce, etc. But always take care of your kids, people who work for you/do services for you (Bartender/Waiter, Taxi, house keepers, etc.). He also said when judging people you should look it how they stack up in those categories.

I am not a Trump supporter, but the guy is known to have great kids who are polite, hard working, and love the hell out of him. It is also quite well known that Trump treats his employees well and actually has real, personal convos with low level people you would never expect him to even look at. For all his alpha male talk about women, he actually has quite a few high level women execs and they apparently love the guy and say he treats them with respect.

Hilary, OTOH, has been known to wipe the smile off her face real quick when the cameras are off and has a long record from many SS people from when Bill was president who say she acted like she was the real president, not Bill. They also say she would never get to know any of their names and would make rude, elitist remarks to them and was very demanding with no "Thank You".

http://nypost.com/2015/10/02/secret-service-agents-hillary-is-a-nightmare-to-work-with/

I know it may seem like small potatoes to most of you guys, but those little things mean much more to me as that is how that person will truly act when under pressure...as themselves.

Wow, I am really, really tired of the term "political correctness."

I stop reading after that point. It's the grown up equivalent of putting your hands over your ears and yelling "LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU"

The people who use the term are not just poor listeners. They are deliberately tuning out important things that people are trying to tell them.

Agree with most of what you say - but I think Trump was made by the political times we live in. Both parties haven't done a good job with the blue collar workers today. And Trump is pulling significant numbers from both parties.

Those voters aren't listening to the social or fiscal conservatives in the Republican party. And they aren't listening to the progressives in the Democratic party.

And, they are coming out and voting. And that is truly surprising to me. They NEVER get politically active. They aren't students, conservatives, super progressives that tend to be drawn into the political process.

They don't seem to be "sensitive" to the bruising Trump message.

So now the Republicans have to explain why they're going to not allow Merrick Garland to join the SC for several months. An interesting play by Obama - I doubt it works the way he hopes, but a very interesting play. Will Orrin Hatch support him? I doubt it. Still, I have this nagging curiosity that if the Republican establishment is worried about Trump, though, they might be inclined to go with it.

Obama has deported more people than Bush, Clinton, and H.W. Bush.

The border isn't as it was 10 years ago with the numbers of illegals coming in.

Obama is trolling. The progressive base of the Democratic Party continues to be let down by him.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the longest serving Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, offered his own thoughts on who President Obama should nominate to fill the seat left open by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia last week. “[Obama] could easily name Merrick Garland, who is a fine man,” Hatch told the conservative news site Newsmax, before adding that “he probably won’t do that because this appointment is about the election. So I’m pretty sure he’ll name someone the [liberal Democratic base] wants.”

When you become emotional, angry, afraid or some combination of any of the above,
rational thought processes and higher order brain function is diminished or shut down entirely.
Propagandists of all stripes have been using this phenomenon for ages.

BTW - someone a few pages back said Reagan was a good president. I think that is revisionism.
#1, The debt exploded during his tenure. Please don't blame Congress for this. The
eventual budget bills passed spent about what was requested by Reagan even if not in exactly
the requested way.

#2 and arguably much worse, he illegally sold arms to terrorists while lying to
the public about it in order to also illegally promote a foreign policy that was ultimately
not in our best interests. The terrorists just kept taking more hostages.

Iran contra could reasonably be described as an attempted covert coup of the government.
It was serious ****.

Why does anyone think there are so many economic refugees coming from south of
the border in the decades since? Not saying any president could have completely
fixed that but I will suggest that conservative/authoritarian policies supporting right
wing dictatorships in Latin America were not helpful. We were still suffering from domino theory
fear. A real leader could have stood up to that fear and assured us it was ludicrous to worry
about being overrun by commies coming over the Rio Grande. The bigger concern
should have been the horrible economic conditions and wealth inequality that has
since driven so many people (for good reason) to leave their home countries for a
chance at a better life. Right wing capitalism failed these people in a major way.
They then voted with their feet.

Reagan's arm control deals with the soviets were a very good thing though those
who attempt to claim Star Wars brought them to the table are living in fantasy
land. Star Wars was/is a boondoggle of epic proportions and a huge misallocation
of resources (easily defeatable by much cheaper methods, kinda like how the
IED made our occupation of Iraq untenable).

How the Republican establishment has handled and continues to handle the Supreme situation could very likely overshadow the foolishness of everything Trump does. All in the name of playing politics.

I think the prudent move for Trump would be to negotiate with Cruz to be the VP, and to do it soon. Cruz's presence would reassure a lot of traditional conservatives who are leery of Trump's rather kneejerk political instincts. He would shore up Trump's right flank. Meanwhile, I don't think that slight drift to the right would make a big impact in Trump's appeal to crossover working class Democrats in the general election. Those guys are thinking solely about economic issues: trade and immigration, and the fact the Cruz is more pro-life and anti-gay-marriage won't really sway them.

Another benefit would be that Cruz would bring his brilliant ground game to the Trump camp, which would be needed in a general election. Trump can't beat Hillary without a radical upgrade in his neophyte ground organization.

Trump and Cruz would have to come to an understanding on trade and foreign interventionism. Right now, they're pretty far apart on those issues.

As to Reagan, yep he was the first to really blow up the budget and not just on defense. He was a happy party along with O'Neill - remember three-to-one ratio of spending cuts to tax increases offered by O'Neill. But O'Neill reneged on the spending cuts - one of the things that Reagan cites as his biggest domestic error.

But to say that he wasn't effective in ending the cold war - smh - he was amazing that way.

Sorry, not sure I understand the 3 fingers :)

I am just saying that he framed the argument in a way that could be understood. For some reason, people think I am a Rubio supporter - geez - couldn't be further from my choice.

He's absolutely trolling. If they don't believe in Trump's ability to win the election, or even want him to win at all and consider running a 3rd party against him, then they likely aren't going to get a better option than an aging moderate for the SC, but to get that result, they need to do a complete 180 from their stance that they would never let Obama get his selection through. If they stick to opposing Obama and Hillary wins, they likely get somebody they like even less. How conservative would Trump pick for an SC judge? I here you on Obama selling out a bit on the progressives, but this is absolutely trolling at its finest.

Yup. It's a bold move by Obama.

Interestingly, if the GOP does indeed decide to obstruct the nomination, then they will have all the more reason to capitulate with the anti-Trump tactics and go all in on Trump 2016.
