They had a payroll of $41M consisting of Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Ennis, Hart, Wagner, Zubac and Deng's corpse.
They added Lebron at $36M, KCP and $12M, Mcgee at $2.4M and Lance at $4.5M, getting them up to a payroll of $96M for the following roster:
PG Ball, Ennis
SG Ingram, Hart
SF KCP, Lance, Deng
PF Lebron, Kuzma, Wagner
C McGee, Zubac
They still have about $3.5M of cap room left to spend, plus they can then spend the $4.4M Room Exception.
Next year, everyone comes off the books except Lebron, Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Hart, Wagner and Deng; giving them a payroll of $78M. That should result in $32M in cap room to throw at Kawhi.
In the meantime, they are in need of cheap depth at center so they don't have to rely on McGee. I'd have to assume Noel is a priority, though a guy like O'Quinn might make more sense from a locker room professionalism perspective.
We're probably going to have to offer more than their best offer of $4.4M to get Noel. I don't know if Ted is willing to do that.
I'm a bit surprised at the Lance Stephenson signin, but everything else makes a lot of sense. It's a 2 year plan. This year they'll be as good as Lebron can take them, but not really in the class of Golden State. Next year, they're contenders.
Looks like they might be adding Evans and retaining Randle. It's a nice squad if that happens but it won't beat GSW.
