An NBA bumpkin named Terd
Drove his brakeless clown car undeterred
The coaching was shotty
So they lowballed coach Scotty
But left other ailments uncured

Terd koan: You can't control what you can control

Shoulder check

Seated at a bench
Brownian motion of crowds
Murmur of bonhomie
Broken by upraised laughter tossed up
To unseen stars
Sparks from a campfire
Always music
To substitute for talk for the quiet ones
The ones who are yet becoming
Or those who are ever gonna be
In the corner brooding in a brew
Staring at a future that is ever possible
Eminent
If only the if onlys opened a door or two

In the era of the infinite
When portals to Mongolia
Can be held in a palm
And every inane bar bet
Can be answered by bouncing a question into orbit
Why are we not all geniuses
Why is genius not revealed
Why are the artificial intellects
Not selecting icons
From the background chatter of all humanity
Why has sound cloud not yet found the next
Amadeus

Blow the foam from a sip
Settle in
I have a feeling
Todays Genius is suppressed
Its for our own good
As though we couldn’t handle it you know
If there were truly new
Revolutionary thoughts
Set free like invasive species
That would fly like starlings
In great murmurations
Able to be read
By sidewalk witchery
As omens for How to Human
Be better
Transmute
Greed to empathy
Sinter sorrow with hope
Catalyze Anomie to a sense of self worth
That every being alive
Should feel exultant
exalted
Each life a
pinprick peephole
to eternity eclipsed by only a passing
Occlusion of durable bad ideas
Soon gone
And that though this moment is all we ever have
Isn’t it full of wonder
To know
We are gifted with a now
That includes
I don’t know
Baby yodas
Or speech writ entirely in a heiroglyph of emojis
Or dueling memes
Or maybe
In the anthropcene era
Where mass extinctions name new epochs
Nature shakes off detritus
And tries something new
As we shed physical form
And become each of us
Little more than a synapse
With our creative spasms
And short lives
Mere passing thoughts
In a great brain
That pulses our radio signals
To infinite space
To be read
By vast sapiences
Of other faraway galaxies
Who will not hear our music
Until all the light years pass
Or quantum conversation happens
Whichever comes first.

My man going at it...

"...every being alive
Should feel exultant
exalted
Each life a
pinprick peephole
to eternity..."

A nice vision for sure -- should it maybe be "on eternity?" I.e. if it's a peephole (something one looks through). Might be a momentary passageway, however, a brief trip to, or a moment of contact with. "Onto" would be quicker to grasp -- but the sound suffers ("onto eternity" doesn't scan).

Into eternity. That is, our lives are the fisheye lens through which we can partially glimpse the infinite wonder of all that is, has been, and could be. And Eternity the bright light on the other side of the wall of time we are fixed in.

Remixed. I’m picturing you with sunglasses, a beret, and a soul patch beard at the coffee house. You and doc and PIF can lead the Wizards poetry slam face off

Been listening to the new Megadeth album. Really inspirational, dude is 60 and still making amazing music.

And his lyrics are so good.

"Red flash clouds choking out the morning sky"

"Einstein said we'll use rocks on the other side!"

PIF I bet you know that einstein quote. Probably dont know that riff at 1:45 though. Do you know the backstory?

Dave was kicked out of Metallica in a very disrespectful way, they bought him an 80 hour greyhound bus ride from NYC to LA. He wrote this song on the way back.

Kick ass song which I just played three times. Thanks for posting.

PS: I never thought about it, but rock videos in the poetry thread for their lyrics is a good call.

Glad you enjoy. Dude just beat throat cancer and is still releasing awesome music.

The riff at the end there is insane.

I don't know the Einstein quote, no. But I did know that Metallica fired their guitarist, & that he'd gone on to do a lot of other stuff.

In truth, this is not my kind of music -- which doesn't mean that I can't tell how *good* it is. How accomplished, powerful, etc. It just means that it's not something I listen to.

Not at critique; just not my thing. If I'm listening to rock, it might be:

or

or the genius of genius of genius

Of course, every once in a while I might take a notion to listen to Pere Ubu

But, more likely, I'd have this in my headphones:

That's his friend Uncle Seymour Washington with him. Uncle Seymour was a traveling blacksmith.
"Sorrow & solitude, these are the precious things,
& the only words worth remembering."

Or, even more likely:

Khatia make you a classical music fan I bet!

Of course, mostly I listen to the music God has on the turntable up in paradise:

or

& that's not even getting to the blues. For a guy who grew up in Chicago that's saying something.... :). Can't do better than Mance Lipscomb:

They say Mance knew 3000 songs.
