What you should do is not interface with the world through a Nike ad. Quit whoring to the media and the media will stop giving it to you up the rear. Excuse my french.

Sorry if it's not in the wonderful spirit of this thread, but that is a HOF commercial. As the Washington Post used to say, if you don't get it... you're as smart as a rock.

Have to disagree Ruz. Any commercial featuring LeBron is automatically precluded from HOF status.

I've got to disagree too. It's an everything but the kitchen sink approach, trying to awe the viewer with the greatness of Lebron James, Nike, and a huge production budget, but as anyone who's ever seen a big budget flop can tell you, expensive can be bad. It's relentlessly cringe worthy unintentionally funny with its self-reflexive "irony" and ham-handed excess. That's a really lame commercial that got old and predictable long before it finished playing, and made that much worse because LeBJ is the star, undermining any credibility the ridiculous premise might have had.

I respect Aloha's honest response.

I'm surprised at how ineffective Wade and Lebron looked playing together. It was like they'd never met each other before, trying to feel each other out how to play on the floor. Wade was way, WAY more passive than I expected, and just looked out of sorts. They're too good not to get it together to some extent, but wow, weird fit.

The funny thing is the commercial actually holds all the answers and identifies his mistakes.

And at the end he asks, should he be who we want him to be. The answer is yes in so far as what people are telling him provides direction based on the wisdom of millions of outsiders looking in who can objectively evaluate what he has done vs what they have seen work from the greatest players.

Has be ruined his legacy ? Well, he is still young enough to change that but he hasn't gotten off to a very good start so he has a hole to dig out of.

But he could have gone about this totally different. There are lots a great players who didn't win it all and have a strong legacy.

Look at Carl Malone, Barkley, D Wilkins, The Ice Man

But when you come out excepting people calling you The King and GOAT, you allow the bar to be set so high that anything less than multiple titles is a bust. Specially when you invest so much time in caulk throwing and size line dances.

My advice is listen to your own commercial. Start over. Stop the sideline caulk BS and stop the stupid commercials and interviews on national television to announce where you decided to go 6 months ago.

Problem is he wants it all. He wants the money and the fame and the legacy. I think right now he needs to pick legacy or money. Be a basketball player and let to fans seek you out.

Personally I have seen enough of LeBrons much in advertising. It has no positive effect on my purchases. To me he is ruining the Nike brand that MJ built up.

It did look pretty bad, but they've had a lot of things to work out: new players, young players, injuries, deference issues, etc. I greatly enjoyed watching that failure, but as bad as they seemed to play, they were close at the end, and LeBJ (much as I can't stand him and his whining and traveling and easy calls) was pretty on it at the end. Bosh was the one that looked disappointing to me, but even he might still figure out his role. If they ever develop a dependable pick and roll and use it when their initial attack fails, LeBron and Wade could really mess up the league.

I think it was predictable since Wade had only played the first 3 minutes of the exhibition games. What struck me is - they're going to have trouble against big physical teams - not that there are very many of them. I question whether there's much substance to Bosh's game. Even though KG didn't do much offensively, he had no trouble controlling Bosh. Boston's got the best small/big defensive combo in the NBA, and they've got the O'Neil brothers and Big Baby to physically wear down teams - not to mention 2 all-time great wing scorers. If KG stays healthy, they can beat Miami in the playoffs.

Ohhh, calling me a liar, huh? Hey, I made a nod to my own bias with "made that much worse because LeBJ is the star," but really, I hate most commercials. Nike commercials, in their excess, remind me of the endless gold leaf in Donald Trump's apartment or any old casino. Not really art, but more like social engineering. I much prefer watching the game, and both games yesterday were pretty fun to watch and for me much needed after this long offseason.

Totally agree. The Celtics looks designed to both survive a long season and prevail in a long playoffs.

No, I just thought you over-did the analysis part. I apologize for the implication in that post - especially since you're a great poster. I totally agree - the game is what matters. Even though it was 16-9 at the end of the 1st quarter, that was a gripping game - as opposed to a game that grips.

Oh, I was exaggerating a bit. I got what you were saying, and readily admit that I often overstate my case.

I didn't watch the game at the start, and when I turned it on, the Heat were way behind, but my brainwashed brain tells me that a team with Wade, Bosh, and James is capable of catching up (and James did launch quite a run) so I thought it was pretty gripping, the suspense of will they come back and when, as well as watching how the many new additions to these teams fit in ( watching Houston perform held a similar attraction).

Thanks.

So now it time to place your beat on if he will do it. Current odds in Vegas are 10,000 to 1.

I couldn't resist. But that is 100 bucks I'll never see again.
