Re: The Official Gilbert Arenas Shrine
I've said it from the start and I'll say it again. Health is going to be the determining factor in our success this season, not chemistry and not talent. Gil and Wall can play together, Gil can still get us 25ppg, Josh Howard is a competent starting 3 in this league. If we have success it will be due to good fortune on the health front, if we do not it will be due to bad fortune there.

Re: The Official Gilbert Arenas Shrine
I posted this in the Miami GT, but it may be more appropriate here:
I believe that Gil has exceeded many people's opinions of him thus far this season. When the Hawks were killing us, and we had no chance of coming back, Gil played with the young guns. And for good reasons. He is a capable teacher in ways. He instills confidence. I think NY has to thank Gil for his success this year. Gil is showing he is a coach's dream when it comes to the playing part (the off-court part, well, we won't go there. young "guns" was probably not an appropriate description for something for Gil to play with, either.) Gil, as many of us have championed, makes players better.
I'm glad we kept him for nothing more than to teach Wall to do the same.

Gil is second on the team in on/off differential - only Booker surpasses him. (And Booker's on/off differential is pretty suspect given the small sample size.)

Dwyane Wade on Gilbert Arenas: "He decided to get into the fight"
Near the end of the first half of the Wizards' 105-94 loss in Miami on Monday, Gilbert Arenas pulled up from deep behind the three-point line to quickly drain a shot that silenced the crowd. It wasn't quite a "Hibachi" moment, but it was a reminder of an earlier era when Arenas would routinely end or begin runs with a quick three-pointer.
And, it was a welcome sight for Heat all-star guard Dwyane Wade, who has noticed the change in Arenas's play in recent weeks. Wade has spent some time with Arenas the past two summers in Chicago, where they both train with Tim Grover, and knows how hard he pushed himself to get healthy again. But Wade was understandably concerned when Arenas arrived at training camp looking despondent and distant.
"Gilbert's dealt with a lot of things on the basketball court, but off the court as well. You always like to see a guy who comes through adversity, especially when it looked like earlier in the year, he wasn't there mentally with the team," Wade said. "He decided to get into the fight and have some great games for them."
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

Off topic, but Wade seems like a pretty classy guy, sucks to root against him with Lebron on his side. But he's right, Gil looks like he's regaining his groove.

I agree, Halcyon. Love Wade, hate LeBron and Bosh.

What are you saying??? I don't hate Bosh. There's no more room in my heart for hate after what I feel for LeBron.
To juxtapose LeBron against DWade - I didn't like LeBron after his first couple of years. But I really started to hate him after he pulled that punk move tapping Gil in the chest while he was at the free throw line and trash talking in the playoff game. What a douche.
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Well dont forget that when Wade's Superstardom 1st took off, I remember people asking him who is his rival. Everyone assumed he would say Lebron but he said Gil at that time.

I hate how Bosh gave up on Toronto, I hate how soft he is on the boards and in the paint, and I hate how he how floated into Miami like LeBron.

I agree completely with your "on the court" analysis but in terms of "playing the part off the court" seems completely false according to your own analysis.
He's a capable teacher. He instills confidence. He's had an impact on NY.
I'll add to that. He's unselfish to a fault. He practices hard and has a ridiculous work ethic. Every player seems to love playing with him and he seems to create good chemistry.
The concept that Arenas is a bad influence or bad person off the floor is nothing other than a bad media narrative. It's not true.

Re: The Official Gilbert Arenas Shrine
My apologies if I was unclear. I actually love Gilbert's personality off the court. The whole gun thing and the practical jokes aside, his teammates love him, and I believe that. I in no way think Gil's a bad guy. He just made a mistake (but that's old news right?)
So you're right--I say Gilbert is a good influence on our young players, and a good person. Therefore, he's great to have around.

Because he is the best player on the team.

Well sh*t. I hope this is just a rumor. I think there is a great chance that this is a rumor.
But Shard/Vince for Gil/Andray? Putrid, putrid, putrid.

Ernie would pull the trigger on some crap like that.

Blatche and Gil are good players. Even though Gil is aging, he isn't DONE like VC is. Shard is DONE as well. They can help a team like Orlando, but they only make a team like the Wizards worse.

I wouldn't say that Gil is aging but I agree with the rest.
