That guy Johnson gave Book a cross-body block there.

Johnson was a guy we had on our boards for that draft.

Good to see us win, even against a garbage team. I'm glad Wall and Booker played well.

you know how I feel about it and I wrote Leonsis about it. He gave me some kinda crazy response

Elaborate.

I wrote him a long post about it and he responded by saying:

John is enjoying playing an up tempo game-- we need to create more offense by reboudning well; and then adding via the draft-- trades and free agency additional scoring options. Ted

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

then I responded again and he said

Yes-- we know John must improve his mid range and 3 point game-- Rose for instance went from taking 1 three point shot in year one and two-- to three and now 6 per game; it helps to open things up.

Then--we need some spot up jump shot makers; and we need some players that can work down low as well; pretty much we need 3 more players to add to rotation; two that are stars. We know--we know. Ted

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He never really addressed my point about the system and the high screen. He kinda took it somewhere else but I guess he figures the system is fine and we just need to do these other things

So... what was the group on the floor in overtime that didn't allow a single field goal?

This was so good for me. Wall played like a superstar. I can back away from the trade thread.

I had Booker, Bayless, and James Johnson in fantasy off the waiver wire.

(Just added Jeremy Lin. Anybody in a deep league and needing PG and scoring, get Jeremy Lin ASAP! The Knicks beat the Jazz without Amare and with Carmelo hurt and out all game after the first few minutes.)

Good win for the Wizards, even though a strategic tank would have been fine, too.

The best part about this game is Lewis didn't play. Booker and Singleton started. Vesely contributed late. Who cares if the Raps made it close?

Why do you keep saying that. They run it. They just don't run it well.

Actually Booker cut down the middle several times after running it.

Raps were running throw the pick and trapping it all night. They ran it lots.

Physical strength and mental toughness will get better with age, hopefully.

I am just glad when his offense gets untracked.

I wonder at what point McGee is going to get tired of being pushed around like a 8th grader in a grown man pickup game.

He's not going to get us anywhere being a finesse player, it's sad because his potential is almost otherworldly.

A lineup of Wall, Young, Singleton Booker and Seraphin may very well be a better option for this team as long as you cannot rely on McGee to dig down and play with some fight.

Put me on the 'trade Mcgee while his value is at an all time high' bandwagon. I'm sick of seeing him play like a girl out there.

Not sure why people keep asking for high pick and rolls since they ran at least 15 of them today and probably more than 20. We just don't have any players that know how to do it well. In fact, they do it so poorly that most here aren't even aware that they are running it. That includes Wall, Young, Booker and McGee. Seraphin at least sets a good screen. Crawford can run it fairly well but as with every other set he ends up jacking up a shot regardless of whether it's the right play.

Much better overall game and effort from John Wall. Since someone will inevitably ask, no nothing about his performance tonight changes my mind about his game. He just gave good/better effort tonight and made some shots that he otherwise misses. His floor game still makes me depressed and that includes tonight's performance.

Booker was good with the exception of his disappearing on the boards. Love me some Booker. Favorite player on the team.

Thank you Coach for benching McGee. Again. Now if we can only make it permanent somehow.

It's really hard to watch Young and Crawford play, and yet we have no other options.

As bad as Vesely looks, I'm still convinced he's salvageable. His intangibles are great.

There have been times when McGee played the best of any Wizard. Things run in cycles.

I am convinced Seraphin is a much better defender than Javale, and I am also sure Seraphin can hold position inside and potentially give the team more points in the paint. I think right now Seraphin is really pushing to start at C because he's playing the position better in many ways than McGee.

HOWEVER, I am also convinced McGee is a better-than-average NBA player. His strength is his capacity to give weak side help and block shots at the rim. McGee has a PER of 18.7, by far the highest on the Wizards. (Booker is next at 16.3). By Win Score/48, McGee is second to Booker. By block percentage, Javale McGee is #1 in the NBA for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. McGee is also #10 in the NBA in offensive rebound percentage. IMO Wittman is right to tell McGee to block shots. I also like the fact, that Wittman is using Seraphin well off the bench, unlike Flip Saunders.

Right now, McGee is slumping and Seraphin is coming on strong. I see that as a good sign, provided McGee just keeps doing what he has been good at.

Wizards announcers even keyed in on one play where Crawford made his move before Vesely's pick was set, which drew out Vesely's foul prone tendency to move his picks. Vesely and Seraphin attempt to create the opportunities but, as you say, many Wizards might not even realize when they used one to get open. With a full offseason of practice and maybe a little chowderhead attrition, perhaps there can be a marginally better recognition and execution of a move that's practically meat and potatoes on virtually every other team.

Having someone off the bench you can go to gives you the best of both worlds. You can give someone burn as long as they are not repeating the same dumb mistakes over and over again. If they are indulging in bad habits you go to the bench.

Jeremy freaking Lin had another amazing game. 28 points and 8 assists in the win over utah. Wall vs Lin should be a great match up come wednesday...

Lin is looking great, indeed (and, he's worth a quick waiver-wire pick up in any fantasy league). But his numbers will drop considerably once the league has had a chance to study him on film. He's no different from Byron Mullens, or Courtney Alexander, or Jordan Crawford, or any other number of guys that blew up during their first (unexpected) taste of steady minutes, only to fall back to mediocrity (or worse) once the League adjusted.
