if wall would have started the 4th quarter with the same intensity he ended it with, this would have been a different game imo.
young and crawford were ice cold the entire game while wall was on fire but for some reason he deferred to start the 4th and looked to young and crawford to bail him out. all they did was trhow up bricks like they had been doing all game. wall started to takeover again with about 4 minutes left but it was too late at that point.

7-Day Dray wrote:Our offense is too ISO-oriented. On most plays, there’s no movement. There’s one pick at best, and a guard chucks up the first shot he can find. We have too many low IQ guards that make everyone else bystanders on offense and don’t feed the ball into the post. And Wittman has to take control.
Agree but Witt is bascially dead man coaching. He has virtually no shot of returning. Maybe he's just giving up on certain guys. I'd love to see about 1/2 this roster gone next season.

Why not? This team isn't built to win games. We have no true snipers. We have exactly two reliable two-way players (Booker and Wall). Most of our roster has less than three years playing experience. We're going to lose a lot of games even when individual players are doing great.
So yeah. I'm going to enjoy it. That's all we HAVE to enjoy.
I don't know if I'd say both of those guys are two-way players. Wall allowed fat Felton to score 21 points tonight. He's not what I'd call a quality defender and Booker has more to prove that he can do it full-time at the four. Both as a rebounder and defender though he's definitely rebounding a lot bettter. We know he can hustle and jump. I want to see more Seraphin and some Vesely who can't improve on the bench.
Also, Wall had all but 2 of his points before the fourth IIRC. Felton scored a bunch and assisted a bunch late. McGee was on the bench when Gerald Wallace, Jamal Crawford, and LaMarcus Aldridge did their damage. Young was in the game taking lots of shots.
I shouldn't be upset with this loss, but I think this was a very winnable game.
The Wizards did not adjust to Camby being out of the game and Pryzbilla being in foul trouble. Booker didn't get enough shots and I think Seraphin needed more FGAs, too.
Seraphin shouldn't have to be on the bench in this game, just because for a stretch McGee had it going well in the third. This was a game to leave Seraphin on the floor and make this an ugly game.

What's the point of starting Mason? We know what he can do. We're trying to get Anthony Davis. He's Camby x10. I'd rather start those shot chucking guys than wind up with Jared Sullinger or Perry Jones.
I know and I agree but man I just cant stand to watch it anymore. If been a Wiz fan for a million years and its always about us settling for garbage play just so we can get a high pick, yet we still suck. I want Davis also but man ol man. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ever heard of help defense? I thought it was a team game? In many cases it's not just Wall's responsibility to shut down the opposing player.

Perfect tank loss for me. I really have no complaints. I just hope most of our roster is gone next season.

I agree with dlts. Start Mason.
Mason is not going to shoot a team out of a game. If Wall attacks and takes 15-20 shots, we cannot have Nick taking 16 if he's shooting 25%. We can't have Crawford jacking even 9 shots, if he's hitting 33%. Mason is smart and unselfish.
Heck, nate, this game Witt should have tried Wall with Mack!
This game, Wall, Mack, Singleton, Booker, and Seraphin/McGee would have probably given the best chance at a victory.

The shooting guards on OUR team killed us tonight. They were 7 for 26 (27%) while the rest of the team was 32 for 56 (57%). They also had 1 assist. We beat the Lakers by sharing the ball (24 assists) and had 17 tonight. Why do Young & Crawford feel so entitled? Give the ball to Book & Seraphin a few more times and they WILL score some pts.....

I know you hate him but the best help defender is Vesely. Singleton probably second. Nobody else really helps that much but I see Wall giving up way too much dribble penetration from guys that are much slower. And that's understandable. He's a 20-year old second-year guy who still has some work to do. And I know he's improved but I'm not going to jock the starting point guard on my team that's won 8 games. He's an incredible talent and hopefully we surround him with better players.

exactly bro.
this is one of those games where you would have liked to see wall, as our franchise player take over the game. he was on fire the first 3 quarters, but once the 4th started he would pass to ny or crawford the second he got across half court and then go stand in the corner and do nothing while they throw up brick after brick.
he finally realized it was going to be up to him to win it. but we were down by 10 at that point. i'd like to see him realize that sometimes he is going to be looked upon to close games out for us and accept that challenge.

Okay, I'm through bitching and complaining.
Good game Singleton. If that three continues to fall and he can pick up his defense, he can reverse opinions faster than it has taken Seraphin.
Great start, Wall. He is very confident now.
Mason has found his legs and his confidence in his shot.
Good floor game by Mack.
Seraphin manned up and Camby was tossed.
Washington shot pretty well from the field.

This was the perfect game to try Mack/Wall. Crawford can't start. When he's cold he kills us. He has to be a bench player so that you can marginalize these types of efforts.
I also thought Wittman had a bad game. He waited too long to make subs, didn't give Roger enough pt, and Wall was on such a roll I would have left him in to start the 4th.

Wall didn't start the 4th...People nitpick every game with what he does.

First of all, this loss is not on Wall and I am not mad at him ....
Wall doesn't do a good job of keeping guys in front of him and he is not a physical defender.
For all his end-to-end speed, John Wall doesn't fare well against ankle breakers who make him move laterally or who attack him head on. Wall is spectacular defending on a fast break or when he chases down defenders. He's long and fast but IMO does not have as low a base as some of the shiftier PGs.

Mack is playing pretty solid again and Singelton has stepped it up big time.
The biggest difference in this game is that Portland has LA. They had the big you can throw it to and run offense through while we didnt. He was being guarded by Booker who was trying but just too short to compete. He was shooting right over him. I just felt helpless when they threw it into him and then they set up the perimiter game off of that. We were all perimiter, espically in the 2nd half.
Part of it is us not having a big stud like LA and part of it is just the chuckers. As Witt said after that one game, the guards have to introduce themselves to the bigs. They never pass it inside. If they do and the big kicks it back out then the jack it up instead of throwing it right back down

Not a perfect tank loss for me. I really want to see what Seraphin and Booker could do if they actually got the ball. Our 2 guards are holding back their development by not sharing the damn ball...

I will repeat this and have folks disagree with me 100 times. I just want to see it:
Put Seraphin at PF and play him with McGee.
You will not see Aldridge dominate the same way. He might live on the FT line, but I believe the size will bother him.

Today, Aldridge would still dominate Booker IMO.
jive, you are 100% correct about the guards.

Would love to see them diversify what the do w/ Seraphin. The guy is big, plays physical, & has good touch...Lets see what he can do
