I'd be shocked if Maryland lost by that much and would be surprised if they lost at all unless they get overwhelmed by pressure since they haven't been there in 5 years. Maryland has a tough matchup against their 6-9 big Peters, but they can't defend Dez Wells. Maryland's quickness will ultimately be the difference. They lost to a bad Missouri team by 15 and to New Mexico by double digits. Now West Virginia with a healthy Juwan Staten is another story.

objectivity is introduced when an investment into the situation is made. vegas deems terps a 5pt favorite.

their stats show that they are a slow paced team, which means a ton of iso plays for dez and melo. get those free throws to drop and we'll be fine.

Looking real ugly. MD needs to regroup. Wells was the only one who showed up, and now he's turning the ball over. Layman needs to wake the hell up.

MD starting to hit the magic 3 balls. Nickens has 3. But in past games that he's had good streaks, he tends to follow up with poor shot selection and overall laziness. In other words - don't depend on him.

Wells should have a better game against West Virginia.

Yeah, Dat was wrong but it was a close game. They have to play much better to beat West Virginia. I don't expect much from Layman but Wells didn't even bring his "C" game in this one. The zone took away his driving ability and Maryland's bigs were well Maryland's bigs. Just survive and advance. It will be a successful season if they beat West Virginia.

BTW. I'm starting to think Otto Porter is Jake Layman-like in the way a 6-9 skinny kid can be invisible on the court on the offensive end.

Yeah, terrible game for him. I think the zone and the early fouls took out his aggression. He shouldn't be passing up 10-footers to pass the ball in traffic to Cekovsky.

The freshmen played with the most poise.

Nickens hit threes and his FTs. Wiley hit a huge three. Trimble had by far the best game of any Terp.

If they beat West Virginia I would love to see Turgeon put Trimble, Nickens, Wiley, Cekovsky, and Dodd all on the court. I would start those guys just to get them all in the game and to spread out the fouls.

Manning didn't make it in the NBA, (IIRC he was drafted by the Bulls in the same draft as Michael Jordan), but IMO he was even better than Steve Blake. Not as tall or as feisty on defense, but a much better scorer and a decent distributor.

It was Jeff Adkins who was drafted with MJ.

They had an off game. But i feel like if they get to play Kentucky, I think the Terps match up really well against Kentucky.

I gotta wonder if he was trying to throw the game - that offensive foul he made near the end was unbelievably stupid. It's no longer a big 3 at Maryland - it's Wells and Trimble.

If Maryland doesn't match up that great with Valpo's bigs, who in the hell are they going to match up with Cauley-Stein, Karl Anthony Towns, Trey Lyles and Dakari Johnson? If you go big as CCJ suggests with Dodd and Checko, Maryland's offense will be dreadful because those guys handle the ball like a hot potato. Maryland would get destroyed on the boards in that game and would have to go Villanova (hitting 70% of their shots, 60% from 3) to have a chance in that one.

I'll just be happy if they get past West Va.
