Wow, Do you believe in....Ok, that wasn't a miracle but great win for the city and franchise. Ovi's blast got it started and Burakovksy cleaned up.

Getting the early goal was huge, Willy set the tone with the big hit and fight. Holtby albeit terrible with rebound control saved the crucial ones with a little luck. I had Vegas vs Washington in the finals and I see it going 6/7.

I was wrong. Thought the Caps would fold. I'm stunned.

Vegas has run through the West. They're going to be a tough out but the Caps are showing the heart and grit a championship team should have.

Vegas is ridiculous. That system and speed and passing they play with is just nuts. Going to be crazy tough.

Tampa just never looked like themselves since the trade deadline.

It’s gonna be wild, but I think the caps can win it in 6 or 7. They look great and very structured.

It looked like Holtby was almost intentionally giving up the rebounds, because of the way his teammates built a fence in front of him. The thing about Holtby - he was like Clint Eastwood out there telling TB - Go ahead punk, make my day. Ya feelin lucky, punk? Not an ounce of trepidation in his play.

Congrats to the Caps.

I like both Caps and Knights, can't really cheer against either team.

It'll be interesting to see how the pundits pick this series. Vegas has only played 15 games and NBC Sports mentioned that they give up a lot of shots. The one good thing is for the Caps is that Vegas clinched so early, they haven't played a game in a long time so maybe the flower lost a little of his mojo.

Great for Ovi and the fans, it's been a long road. Sadly, this will inspire Ted to stick with Ernie until he does the same :(

He fired George McPhee and hired McKinnon (GMGM for GMBM), who was in-house. Not sure how that inspires Ted other than if you fire EG, you might want to hire his replacement in-house. Of course, GMGM is now with Vegas.

Remember, who's the GM of Vegas? George McPhee who was fired by Ted in 2014 after a much more successful tenure than Ernie's. And changing GM's has arguably led to the Caps getting into the SC finals, so I'd think - if anything, this inspires Ted to can Ernie.

However, if Vegas wins, that'd make McPhee look like one of the all-time great GMs. He'd be the first GM in any major sport to lead a first year expansion team to his sport's championship. And Ted... fired him a few years ago.

The hilarious part is that the Capitals actually switched out their long time GM, who predated his ownership of the team, in 2014. and since then have 2 presidents' trophies, 4 playoff appearances and 3 division titles to go along with a finals appearance as well.

Of course, the GM he inherited for the Capitals wasn't nearly as bad as Ernie. Turns out George McPhee is currently the GM for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, of all teams.

Edit: Blast! Beaten to the punch.

To be fair, if it were under old expansion rules, this Golden Knights team might have won 20 games. They changed the rules up, and the Golden Knights team is stacked. McPhee got a huge break there.

I'm not feeling great about the Caps chances, I do think it goes at least 6. Vegas hasn't been tested and the Caps have just been downright physical with every team they have played in the playoffs. Vegas ended things on Sunday IIRC so they would have had a week off and get to play at home for the first two games. That's a huge advantage.
