Timberwolves forward Oleksiy Pecherov has become the team's most improved player, and he's done it in the past three games. When Pecherov, as Wolves coach Kurt Rambis puts it, "learns how to compete in this league and gets a better understanding of our offense and defense," the Wolves might get quality production out of a player they weren't sure about.

One thing that is already clear about Pech: He has the best shooting touch on the team. For a 7-footer, he could be a role model on shooting technique. He has a quick, smooth delivery, which makes it hard for opposing players to bother his shot. As a spot-up shooter on the baseline or from three-point distance, Pech is by far the Wolves' best performer.

What really stood out in the Wolves' tough loss to the Celtics is that Pech scored 10 of his 24 in the fourth quarter to keep the Wolves in position to win. His best of the night came with 4 1/2 minutes left when he posted up Celtics guard Paul Pierce and drove past him for a clutch layup.

Good for Pecherov! I'm glad things are working out for him.

That said, I don't blame EG or EJ for his lack of development here. The bottom line is that he wasn't a good fit our our roster. He lacks the athleticism to play PF in this league so he's got to play center. But it doesn't make sense to play a soft center like Pecherov alongside an undersized PF like Jamison or a finesse big like Blatche. In Minnesota, he can play alongside bangers like Jefferson and Kevin Love. Their toughness and strength at the PF position should help offset his softness at center.

It also helps if the other four players on the floor don't mind sacrificing their field goal attempts.

This is a triple. I've noticed noticed that Roger Mason has been in slump over at SA, last night he was 0-8.

Etan has blog on HoopsHype.

Donnell Taylor was the 2nd pick in the NBDL draft and Portland is keeping their eye on him.

Here's an absolute gem from Etan's blog. I wonder who he's referring to???
11. While on the subject of team trainers and doctors, is it possible to impose a fine or forced firing when a team trainer or doctor consistently misdiagnoses numerous players? Not to call out any names but certain teams (not here with the Oklahoma City Thunder) employ trainers and doctors who regularly make medical mishaps (if that’s a politically correct way of saying it).

LyricalRico wrote:The only reason Pesh is even seeing the court is because of injury. Nobody expected this, not even Minnesota when they got him in the trade IMO. But give the guy credit for taking advantage of an opportunity. If anything it vindicates Grunfeld for seeing his talent in the first place (and is another reason to hate EJ/Tapscott for not playing him).

Even so, were Pesh not part of the trade, he still wouldn't see any minutes over Blatche or McGee so we probably wouldn't be seeing any of this if he was still here.

Pesh is back to the bench for the Twolves. It looks like Hollins is ahead of him in the rotation.

Wow. Is there anyone doubting which team he's talking about. And no, its probably not Dallas. Of course this will be totally missed by the DC media. But it only further confirms what many of us have already recognized, our medical staff is incredibly inept and has been so for years.

Ed Guzman who puts the "Morning Brew" together at Wiz Insider actually caught it:

Etan Thomas writes a blog entry on Hoopshype.com in which he asks this question: "Is it possible to impose a fine or forced firing when a team trainer or doctor consistently misdiagnoses numerous players?" Wonder who he could be talking about?

But this does beg the question that you pose, Dat? Why aren't any of the major media outlets doing an expose on the medical staff. There's clearly a good story there.

Has anyone noticed how-much Roger Mason has been slumping this year? IIRC it began towards the end of last season, his numbers are putrid on-average.

From the Philly Board

6 of the Last 37
That's how many wins Jordan has accumulated over the last 37 games he has coached. Think about that for a moment. Granted, 4 of those games included being swept by the Cavs in the 2007 playoffs, but he was still the HC for those games, so they count as part of his record.

6 wins. 31 losses. And counting. What's it going to take to acknowledge this mistake and at least try and rectify it? Is DiLeo still interested? At this point, can we bring Cheeks back? This is absurd.

6 - 31 is a winning percentage of 16%.

Looking back, I think it would be fair to say that EJ rode a hot trio when the East was at it's weakest and that he never was a very-good coach. Someone used to have the sig something like:
"we win games inspite of Eddie Jordan, not because of him"

i remember saying how lucky efj was having a high scoring trio because his coaching was only detrimental to the team

Sad. I like the sixers.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

Check-out the poll on the Philly board. :) I feel for their fans, but hey, the SE is a rat race.
Should the Sixers fire Eddie Jordan before the end of the 09/10 season?

ha ha. The percentage of people that want him retained is about the same as his winning percentage over the last 37 games.

Man, DCZards has a lot of damage control to do over there. :D

My favorite bit is the fact that apparently EJ is on pace to break his own record for three pointers allowed.

Rosens advice to the Knicks on who to keep.
Jared Jeffries is the team's only quality post defender. The bonus is that he can also occasionally drop 3-balls. Would be best used as the fourth big in a four-man rotation, also making him a keeper.

I wouldn't see Rosen's in-box after this piece.

Jared Jeffries is the team's only semi-functional post defender. The bonus is that he can drop 3-balls when the planets are aligned. Would be best used as the Sixth big in a four-man rotation, and he's too expensive to waive outright.

Fixed. 8-)
