Terd can give anyone a run for the thinnest skin in the world. Remarkable, how small this man is, and how fragile the ego.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Re: The Amazingly Suck Theodore Leonsis Thread
Dumb thing to say. I'm NOT excusing it, but I can imagine how Ted feels about the Wiz rn.
At this little moment in time, he can't be particularly happy about the outlook for the team. A year ago, he did what everyone had recommended for years- he tore it down. And he hired people with great resumes.
Look what happened (again, this is just a snapshot):
* New management traded off all off Porzingas and Beal, and got just about nothing back.
* Well, that's not quite true, they did get back a guy who for the first part of the season played like one of the worst players in the league, and cost $30 million to do so.
* The team sucked last year, but gets the #2 pick in the draft. That's a silver lining.
* In the offseason, the brain trust trades away one of the most popular players on the team. It was also a guy who seemed to be improving significantly. And they trade him without knowing if whoever they were targeting with the pick they got back would still be undrafted when they picked. (This after previous Wiz management also traded away one of their most popular- and profitable- players for... nothing)
* Oh, and just before the draft they hire one of their buddies (Troy Weaver) to do... something.
* The #2 pick then plays terribly in SL (just for the record, I really like Sarr, would rather have had Sheppard, but I'm totally rooting for Sarr, seems like a great person, coachable and talented as well- but wow, SL sucked)
* Meanwhile, over in Ashburn, the Commanders seemingly manage to turn the entire franchise around in ONE offseason. This is highly relevant, because the Wiz compete against the Commanders for sports entertainment $$.
* Even as the Commanders rejuvenate themselves in three months, Wizards management does a press conference saying that after a year and who knows how many trades, etc, they are STILL in the teardown phase, which was one of the stupidest things they could have said, on so many levels.
* But don't worry, Wiz just hired Ish Smith to do... something.
* And all the while, one of the biggest concerns on Wiz boards is whether they might win too many games, ie not suck bad enough, so that they can be .500 in three or four years, which sure makes me want to buy season tix.
* Last thing- Ted could have had his dream athletic complex but instead he's stuck where he's at now.
My suggestions to Ted:
* Spend more time at the practice facilities and find out what all your high-paid managers are really doing. BTW, I hope their comp is highly performance-based.
* Make sure you have metrics in place to evaluate everyone's performance. I always say, even after one draft you should have data about how well your talent evaluators judged not just the Wiz picks, but all 64 picks.
* Don't let team management think that they have years and years to turn this around. They need a sense of urgency.
Anyway, this is just where Ted's head might have been at when he made that stupid statement. I'm hoping that right now truly is the nadir for the team. I'm hoping in particular that the new coaching staff will adopt an approach more like Miami's, where there's more accountability and also better practice methods. So much can go right with all the rookies as well.

Re: The Amazingly Suck Theodore Leonsis Thread
I'd call this a complete bunch of BS
So... is the above objective? No, it's not.
1. Beal -- given his having complete control of the situation, I think it can be said that we did extremely well in the trade! In particular, we came away with a ton of draft capital, by far the most important kind of return for a rebuilding team.
2. Porzingis informed us that he was going to opt out. Is it too much to ask for that to be remembered? We had, literally, NO leverage in the situation. Zero.
3. The Deni trade netted us Bub. The idea that we did the trade "without knowing" whether we'd get value out of the pick is just silly.
4. Whom you think "previous Wiz management" traded for "nothing," I don't know. But, if you mean John Wall, once again that's completely ridiculous. Post-trade, John played 1300 awful minutes for Houston, then was out for another year, then played 600 awful minutes for the Clippers.
OTOH, for John & what will wind up being a R2 pick 5 years out from the trade, we wound up getting Kuzma, KC-P, Montrezl Harrell,&... Porzingis. Tommy drafted poorly, but he sure as H*ll was a trade guru.
He did have one awful game shooting the ball!
Riiight, so -- obviously -- the Wizards need to be good right now!
You are suggesting they could have *improved* in that year? As opposed to starting to tear down the mess they found? Feel free to share any wisdom you might have!
I sure can't think of a way.
&, yes, the "teardown" is still under way. How could it not be?

Under the agreement, the District will purchase Capital One from MSE for $87.5 million.
The purchase price funds will be directly reinvested into the project. MSE will lease the Arena back from the District under an amended and restated lease. Under the terms of the lease, MSE will be in Washington, DC through 2050, with five renewal options of four years each, for a potential additional twenty years beyond 2050, if exercised.

Thats actually a good deal for all parties involved...imo.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

This dude sucks.
Goes into some detail about thinking it would be cool to be homeless so he could be carefree enough to take dumps on the street? I liked fat, plucky, happy go lucky Leonsis from 20 years ago - the dude that just lucked into AOL at the right time. This thin skinned orange fool, everywhere he looks, sees either enemies or people who just don't appreciate or understand his genius. What kind of victim complex is this??? And then he wonders why he would be compared to Snyder???
What a turd.
Also, What kind of profile photo is this? He had his choice of shots and picks the one that looks like a James Bond villain?

So clever the way he matches his >$30k Rolex Smurf Submariner with his terrible fit.
Lol.
His quote about the carefreeness of homeless people is so next level.
That's how you know the black history month MLK business happened with his express blessing.

Apparently the Wizards are 17th in NBA franchise value at $3.98 billion, well below the area being the 8th largest market and probably slightly above that in wealth. I wish Uncle Turd would cash out and sell at least the Wizards. https://www.bulletsforever.com/2024/12/18/24324273/washington-wizards-nba-franchise-value-report

Zards did rank in the top six in terms of value increase between 2023 and 2024.

This is going to cost taxpayers a lot. Turd soaks up the profits while he'll end up charging $28 for a bucket of popcorn, saying it's only fair since he's investing in the city.
I'm sure he''ll hold a grudge against DC too for having killed his VA suburbs wet dream. It will come out in some backhanded tweet like the one's he's thrown out on Wall and Beal.
Lots of flashes of the Stanley Cup in that video, not so much on the Wizards. Maybe they should have shown a picture of one of the secret extensions signed by Grundle.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Re: The Amazingly Suck Theodore Leonsis Thread
I've made plenty of critical comments about Ted Leonsis. I'm the one who described him as a guy the wind blew to the top of a tree & who concluded that therefore he knew how to fly.
But in June of '23 Ted hired an all new management team with the right focus: to build a championship level team. &, therefore, a championship level organization. A new era began, & in that new era -- at least so far -- there is no reason whatever to criticize Ted.
As to the photo, yeah, it's lame: so what?

I think there's plenty to criticize re: his plan to move to VA. As far as basketball operations, maybe not.
