Thoughts on a Mahinmi and Morris for Evan Turner and Ed Davis trade? Turners contract isn't favorable while Davis is a serviceable player whose contract ends this year. Image

Yeah I like it. We could use Ed Davis at center and start Oubre, using Turner as our backup wing, he’s a very good defender at least. Morris would be gone also, which is a positive. We could still search for a combo guard scorer after that like Lou Williams.

Wall
Beal
Oubre
Porter
Davis

Sato

Turner
Scott
Gortat

I couldnt disagree more.
1) Turner is worse than Mahinmi as hard is that is too believe
2) Turner makes 500k more this year, 2M more next year, and 3M more the year after that... Non Starter
3) Turner would take touches away from Sato as our primary backup ball handler. I have no interest in doing that unless that player can shoot...

We are giving up a bad player and a bad contract for Ed Davis, who is a good player that always plays hard, averages 13.3 rebounds per 36, and is constantly one of the better defensive players in the NBA, capable of playing C due to his length(unlike Morris)

I mean, we could just waive Turner if you’re that concerned about Sato handling the ball, he still brings value as a wing defender and a secondary ball handler. Improvement would come from us starting a small ball lineup and having another wing for depth. Mahinmi is literally averaging 3 rebounds per game for us. To make things worse, he’s 44th among centers in DRPM. Cringe

How many hours til they trade Porter and Gortat?

I respect the effort to both of those players. I just know the Wizards are going to do something stupid soon.

A panic move is coming.

Without even looking at the stats, I believe Tristan Thompson could play center for the Wizards.

I know the Cavaliers are not interested in Marcin Gortat or even Markieff Morris; but, looking at Thompson's difficult contract I'm thinking there is a possible trade in there somewhere.

I would not mind seeing Marcin Gortat go to a winning team. Ian Mahinmi already has one championship ring. Wouldn't mind seeing him compete for another.

Tristan Thompson does not have an outside game but I know that he can rebound and that he is young. He was an integral part of the Cavaliers championship run.

If the Wizards could keep their top five youth and add Tristan Thompson; and, somehow not be in salary-cap hell it would be worth it.

Oh... In that case trade Turner to a third team!

I don't really care about his salary but I do care about him taking away shots from guys that need them.
Perhaps turn Evan Turner into the shooting guard from Memphis who is having a resurgent year... Tyreke Evans.

I'm glad I remembered his name without looking it up!

Turner would be making too much money to waive, but I like the way you're thinking.

Ed Davis could really help the Wizards.

I would think about it.

However...

If DeMarcus Cousins leaves this team (because he is currently unrestricted) it would be one horrificly bad trade. Washington would be losing Otto Porter and the first for basically nothing but Hill.

Demarcus Cousins is not going to be a Wizard.

Now that's the definition of a panic move and a dumb trade.

I would trade for any veteran 35 years or older. Vince Carter, Tyson Chandler, shoot even Tony Allen. This locker room, this organization, needs a respected voice. I'd even call Chris Bosh and Matt Barnes just to see how theyre doing.

Would you do Love, the Brooklyn first and cap filler (Frye and Calderon’s 2 expiring deals) for Wall and Mahinmi?

Con: man on the street would say Wall is the face of the franchise, how could you trade him?

Pro: we’ve seen the limits of Wall’s leadership so why not turn this into Beal’s team, let Otto spread wings, get out of impending cap hell so we can keep Oubre, get a lotto pick, and oh yah a 40% from 3 big suited to today’s game.

Trading Porter decimates our wing depth. A lot of Wizards fans really aren't thinking logically.

I just want Mahinmi off this team or some combination of Meeks + Smith at the very least. But they all may be easier to move around the draft.

I'm agnostic on Morris. His contract is fine and he has 1 year left but he's much more valuable off the bench rather than as starter.

I would really think about it, if at the end of the season, you still have all these underlying issues. I also think if Lebron leaves, then Love will be gone anyway and we probably wouldn't have to move Wall, they would just try to obtain picks for the rebuild. Knowing EG, he does that deal and drafts LaMelo Ball and then we'd be stuck in the big baller zone for years to come.

Kawhi Leonard isn't happy in San Antonio. I wonder the way the season's going, if the Wiz don't make the playoffs or get bounced early could they package Porter, a big and maybe Morris along with a first to get him perhaps with a spurs filler. You get a better wing player who can play defense.
