I don't like the word "destined" because it sorta sounds like maybe winning is just happening. I know what you mean, though. To me, Joerger winning in the NBA was a no-brainer because he's won everywhere he's coached.

Charlotte is looking awful. They need to trade for a shooter badly. Zeller, their temporary starting PF was 0/6 with 3 boards matched up against a shorter Millsap and Elton Brand. That kid was an obvious bust.

Too soon. He has to get a lot better on the boards and better all-around, but he hasn't been terrible for his first 1.2 seasons. it's too soon to call him a bust. A lot of players who went on to be quality bigs were worse than him at age 22.

Lakers beat TOR with deRozen not playing. His absence is just what the Wizards
need to slow that team down. I wonder how long he'll be out.

Many of us have liked him for years.

Re.: "Who should be the next Wizards coach?" (12/31/2011)

Nivek posted three years ago:

I'd like to see the job go to the guy I wanted to get the job last time: Dave Joerger. He's a youngish guy who had a ton of success in the D League. He has championships in the D League, CBA and IBA. He's been an assistant in Memphis the past 3 years. He has a better minor league resume than Flip (who had tremendous success in the minors) and Phil Jackson. To me, he's a no-brainer hire. I think he's going to have great success somewhere in the NBA.

I posted:

Of all the things I have ever predicted, this is one I hope a decision maker for the Wizards organization will take and run with the most:

David Joerger is the best person to coach this team. He's worth whatever you have to pay in compensation (even a 2013 first) to pry away from the Memphis Grizzlies.

As much as I wanted Tom Thibodeau in 2007 to coach the Wizards defense, because I respected his body of work; I want Joerger twice as badly. I remember it was July 2007 that Thibs got away. No search engine required on that, either. This guy Dave Joerger is as sure of a can't miss as you can have in life.

Dave Joerger will make an excellent NBA coach. I hope it is for the Wizards. If the guy gets hired everything will change for the better.

We wanted Dave Joerger even before Flip was named coach!

Note: Within that link above, doclinkin, the first guy on this board to post about Joerger, made IMO a HOF-worthy post on coaches.

Interestingly, doc mentioned David Blatt.

The Wizards did listen to me once...

Morris Almond, 6-0, baby. :)

Jim, thanks again for his poster. If nobody in life ever again honors a wish of mine I can say I had one shining moment. :)

Toronto clearly is struggling to adjust their roles minus Derozan.

http://biblehub.com/james/3-10.htm

Out of the same mouth comes blessings and curses. It really should not be so, brethren. ( James 3:10 see the link, if curious)

I owe Brian Shaw an apology.

I was wrong to criticize Shaw 's coaching to the extent I did. I in effect cursed the man, his efforts, and his ability when I said Kenneth Faried will never win in Denver.

Denver is 9-8 and riding a hot streak. http://www.nba.com/#$/games/20141201/DE ... ametracker

All I can say is sorry.

I am happy for Shaw's success. I learned to value discretion and restraint more. The coach got Lawson back and another key player. Suddenly Shaw wins in Denver!

How wrong was I!

Should EG be on the phone with Presti telling him to instruct Brooks to limit Durant's minutes tonight?

Not quite a no-brainer for me because his abrasive style also got him booted from jobs where he'd won. And he was GM in a few of those stints, either de facto or actually, so he got to buy his own groceries. In Memphis it sounded like he might not have that kind of input as the GM situation was wobbly. But yeah, he can coach.

But yeah I had both the Daves Joerger and Blatt on my wish list.

I hear ya. I was less concerned with the abrasiveness stuff because of the winning. When the same guy wins at various stops and different levels, it usually means he's good at what he does. I figured Joerger would win when he got his shot. Worst case, maybe he's a Doug Collins type, who pushes the team to the "almost there" level and someone else comes in to get them to the promised land. So to speak.

A few other D-League guys who I think might be good down the road: Nevada Smith, Nate Bjorkgren, Casey Hill.

Anthony Davis almost gets a 5x5:

25 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 blocks, 4 assists. :o

... in a win against OKC, who had Westbrook and Durant starting.

Not as much as Kings w/o Boogie.

on another game from last night - The Celtics, man. Apparently they routinely go out
to big leads and then suffer heartbreaking defeats. Almost enough to make me feel sorry
for their fans. But nah.

Nice that DAL pulled out a win vs CHI. Every game matters. By season's end, we could
well be neck and neck.

MIL is better than folks expected. They put the fear of gawd in CLE last night.

The Knicks. Now this is something to savor.

But the Pels had the best player in the game. Assuming he doesn't get hurt,
how good will AD be at age 25-27.

Man Philly is trying so hard to lose. First they turn it over on an inbounds play before even passing the ball in. Then they miss two foul shots. Then they give the Wolves several good looks from 3 without getting the defensive rebound.

But they finally did it. 1-17!!!

The Heat's flaws are really getting exposed now. No rebounding, weak D, weak bench.

Bosh may end up wishing he had signed in Houston. He is the perfect guy to pair next to Howard.

The Hawks also beat the Wizards at home and they have won 4 straight and 6 of their past 7.

Yup, looks like Miami is not only missing LeBron but also vets like Allen and Battier. Their defense isn't good enough at this point especially with Chris Andersen out of the lineup.

Still, the Heat shouldn't be written off because their young guys like Nappier and Ennis are adjusting. Napier was -20 while Mario Chalmers was +18. We'll see if McRobert can actually be solid like he was with Charlotte who really seems to be missing him. Coach Spo is going to have to make adjustments with his rotations and strategy.

Anthony Davis last night in a loss to Golden State:

30 points
15 rebounds
3 assists
3 blocks
2 steals
2 turnovers
14/19 shooting

This is just unfair.

How awesome would we be if we could use the Jedi Mind Trick and trade Nene for him. He would address all of our weaknesses (rim protection, youth in the frontcourt, perimeter shooting at the 4, athleticism in the frontcourt to fill the lane on the break, go to crunch time scorer). We would instantly become the best team in the league.
