Ugh trying to convince people to change is exhausting. I'm trying to get MCC to practice this new methodology where you (gasp) go out into the country you're trying to help and ask the people there, who will be implementing the solution you are paying for, to help you design the solution. And no one wants to right out say "I don't want to change" so instead they just passive aggressively resist and it's driving me INSANE.

Trying to listen and empathize with people's positions but it's hard when they won't come right out and say "I just don't want to do this, I'm used to doing it this other way and that's my only reason" I mean at least that I could work with

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

This is going to be the issue moving forward. Is this going to be like the flu with various strains or will a vaccine give you immunity and for how long. I haven't seen anything definitive on this - you?

Here's what my microbiologist acquaintance said to me on the subject.
You had the question of whether people can be infected more than once - which is a key factor in whether herd immunity is possible. That has been a key question all along, and I am not sure it has been answered. I think the evidence so far is that some people have either been re-infected or got better and then got worse, but it is not very common. That will be an even more important factor in the future. So far the virus has not mutated a lot, but what if it does mutate like flu viruses do (not likely, but possible) and we need a new vaccine every year? Yikes. The flu viruses have a unique way of mutating called reassortment, so it is not likely that Coronaviruses will mutate as drastically as flu viruses do.

Another issue is will other unique Chinese Coronviruses evolve and cause diseases in the future. The answer is that is very likely. We were actually collaborating with Chinese scientists to help prepare for that eventuality until Trump forced Fauci to defund that collaboration.

I remember what he said in that last paragraph - the cutting off of such vitally important sharing of information with the Chinese scientists. What that potentially cost us is beyond measurable. It might end up being the most important reason to get Trump the f out of the WH.

That we've allowed tRumpistas to argue on social media that nothing was found,
even before this report, was also both a failure and an indictment of virtually
every elected rethuglican and expecially of AG Barr, the most corrupt AG in the
history of our country, a failure in the sense of their oaths of office.

If Goodyear makes hats, I'll buy 100. I'm happy with my tires for the moment.

I'm waiting for DT to start hawking Bridgestone or Michelin over Goodyear, and the accompanying non-firestorm from his supporters regarding his recommending a non-US company over a US company.
