This is going to be the issue moving forward. Is this going to be like the flu with various strains or will a vaccine give you immunity and for how long. I haven't seen anything definitive on this - you?
You had the question of whether people can be infected more than once - which is a key factor in whether herd immunity is possible. That has been a key question all along, and I am not sure it has been answered. I think the evidence so far is that some people have either been re-infected or got better and then got worse, but it is not very common. That will be an even more important factor in the future. So far the virus has not mutated a lot, but what if it does mutate like flu viruses do (not likely, but possible) and we need a new vaccine every year? Yikes. The flu viruses have a unique way of mutating called reassortment, so it is not likely that Coronaviruses will mutate as drastically as flu viruses do.
Another issue is will other unique Chinese Coronviruses evolve and cause diseases in the future. The answer is that is very likely. We were actually collaborating with Chinese scientists to help prepare for that eventuality until Trump forced Fauci to defund that collaboration.
