The perma furious Bernie Bros who sit out elections are 100% in it for the identity politics. They don't gaf about policy outcomes - they just want to feel smart and woke and signal to everyone that they understand power structures better than all the PARTISAN HACKS and HILLARY HOES

I frequent a couple of Progressive websites so I know the insufferableness of Bernie Bros. But there has to be more to it. I’ve found that there’s just a defeatist attitude with some Democrats. There’s a poster on the CA board from Georgia that’s definitely not a Bernie bro but he’s from a Georgia and said he wouldn’t be voting for Abrams because of some vote she took in the state senate. I mean here’s a clear example that there’s a Republican actively trying to **** him over and implement policies that would be worse than anything Abrams could do yet he’s talking about voting doesn’t make a diufference and if Abrams loses by one vote then his vote would matter. I was like what the ****?!

Truthfully, Bernie Bros are cultlike.

And this is coming from someone who supports the majority of Bernie's platform.
President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries

Yeah, I'm painting with a broad brush. I've spoken to a number of Bernie Bros - both online and in person - who sat out the election because both candidates were equally bad, and now that Trump is the dumpster fire everyone assumed he'd be, the talking point is that burning down the system (via Trump) is a good thing because we can rebuild it and make it good.

It's that type of sentiment that makes me feel a huge % of non-voting Bernie Bros are just totally unserious TGW types who have no idea what 'burning down the system' would do to people who actually rely on the system - like tens of thousands of [mostly poor] people would die at a minimum, but in the woke bong-ripping **** Bernie Bro world, it's really not even a consideration.

So you mean to tell me Glenn Greenwald wasn’t concerned with America electing a far right lunatic out of hatred and bigotry but all of a sudden he’s concerned when it happens in the country he currently lives in? I wish I had twitter so I could tell him to **** right off

Republican officials who engage in these blatant vote-cheating schemes are the scum of the earth and they have been given cover by the activist, Conservative Supreme Court majority when it gutted the Voting Rights Act. Republicans blatantly cheat, gerrymander, and purge voters to keep power as their voter base continues to shrink. GOD! I hope the Dems get a majority and passes some kind of legislation to end this BS that hopefully Trump won't veto.

If or when Democrats ever get back in power they need to enforce voting as a constitutional right. Make it easier to vote for every US citizen, make Election Day a national holiday, full statehood for DC and Puerto Rico. **** the Republicans anti Democracy tactics.

I'm not familiar with this story and instance, but I don't understand the argument against needing a photo ID to vote. It defies logic than someone can go vote by simply stating your name address and one or two things that can easily be memorized. Show proof that you are who you say you are and absolutely, vote as your heart desires.

it's not the baseline logic of requiring ID to vote that's problematic but all of the voter suppression tactics that are used under the pretextual argument of requiring ID to vote, first and foremost of which is there not being a uniform, free, accessible form of voter ID in place.

The issue is that it isn't actually burning down the system to start fresh. This is completely changing the system to tilt power structures in very particular directions. It's going to be harder to rebuild the system the longer these changes are allowed to continue. If they mean they hope things get so bad that we get a bloody revolution and start fresh and feel that would be a good thing, they have no idea what a revolution actually looks like.
