YES! The Kings protected us from ourselves, now somebody just take Grant off the board.

Just trade Trez, Bertans, see if you can sucker someone into Dinwiddie and shut Beal down.
We’re headed for a top 5 pick right now and that’s a lot better than whatever’s left.

What they should do is probably trade Harrell to a team like Memphis like mhd said for Culver and a pick.
Charlotte's always looking for a center, trade Bryant to Charlotte for Richards, Ish Smith and a 2nd rounder.
Playoff team needs shooting? KCP essentially has 1 year left on his deal, with the 2nd year having a $4 million guarantee. Maybe ring Phoenix up and offer KCP for Smith, Saric, and a 2nd rounder.
They need to decide which among Harrell or Bryant they intend to keep, and trade the other. If nothing else, just to ease the log jam and improve the locker room.
It would be awesome if they could unload Bertans, but we all know that's an impossibility at the moment. I think they could get real value if they put KCP on the block. Two-way 3&D wings have big time value to title contenders. I'd move him to free up more minutes for Kispert and Bertans. Eff it, play Bertans at SG if you have to. Just clear the log jam. We need developmental minutes for Avdija, Kispert and Hachimura, and we need Bertans to get on the floor and get back into a rhthym so we can unload him in the offseason. If we can turn KCP into a late 1st, all the better.

At first, I was outraged. But then I looked up some past drafts and it's really not so extraordinary. Outside of San Antonio and Toronto, it seems that guys picked after #5 very rarely stay for their second contract. Basically, if you are smart and lucky enough to draft an All-Star, then you keep him. Other guys are typically let go.
Which is why I'm often advocating moving guys at peek value before you either:
A. Let them walk
B. Wait long enough for their value to plummet
Now obviously there's plan C that everyoneeeee wants to wait for, which is:
C. Player makes a sudden terrific leap and justifies an extension.
More often than not, particularly with where we draft, it's not going to happen.

This is so Wizards…what timing for this
Gotta laugh - first they said he'd miss a game or 2, then 4 games, and now he might need surgery.

Ok then! It’s tank season. We have so many tank commanders. We may get a good 1st round pick if we do this right.

I have this weird feeling that the Wiz are going to target Brogdon while attempting to get off the Dinwiddie contract.

We're about to enter talkathon territory and the Beal wrist injury is a real blessing. OTOH, Ted will/would Super Max Beal coming off a mystery injury.

I'm actually becoming cautiously optimistic that Tommy will look to sell rather than buy at the Deadline. With Sabonis off the table, the recent losing streak, and now Beal with an injury, it's pretty clear that trying to win now is no longer a realistic goal.
I'm not saying Tommy will trade Beal, but I'd look for him to try and trade Harrell, Dinwiddie and KCP (or possibly even Kuzma) for future assets. It probably won't be a "blow it all up" move, but at least it will be a "this season is lost, let's retool for next season" type of mindset. The short term goal is to quiet dissent in the locker room, which means we need to clear out redundant depth, and try and move any players who are having ego clashes with the coach. The intermediate goal is to develop our young guys while tanking for a higher pick. The long term goal is to acquire future assets. All can be addressed by trading away our vets on short term contracts.

We are currently picking 11, but the 5 teams in the 10-6 spot could all make runs.
NYK: They need to move Randle, but they dont appear to be selling
NOP: They have won 3 in a row and now add McCollum...they are buyers and might get Zion back
POR: If they end up getting Grant, they could also make a decent run
SAS: Not buyers, but not sellers and have Murray playing great and Pop as coach
Kings: 5 games behind us and Haliburton has been great, but adding Sabonis and Lamb to Barnes and Fox could make a run.
If we can get to the 8th pick, then things get interesting. We have a ~26% chance of getting into the top 4, but even if no, we end up with 1 of Sharpe, Griffin, Murray, or Ivey.

Well done! Exactly what we should do.

So Wizards. Watch us Supermax him. I hope a Simmons deal is available in the off-season (we'd have to give up value in such a deal). At least we'll tank.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
Good news is we can tank without even trying and hopefully get a top 7 pick. If he opts out, hopefully will get a S&T deal.
Get rid of KCP and Trez. Start Deni and Kizpert with Kuz and Gafford. Who cares who is at the 1. We're tanking.
Just realized we're far away from about 9 teams so we need to end losing 25 of our last 29 or something like that. The 10-3 start crushed any possibility of getting a top 5 pick thanks to Detroit (12-41), Orlando (12-43), Houston (15-38) and OKC (17-36). Well, I guess here's looking at another 9th or 10th pick. Better than 15.

Beal’s injury will probably mean the Zards make a low-level trade for a guard or two. Desperate need for perimeter scoring and playmaking.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XLII
So…given the news…I see two possible outcomes during the off season:
1) Terd offers Beal the super max or
2) Beal is signed and traded to the Celtics for some garbage
Either way we are f****
