To be clear, I'm fine if EG picks up a schlub that Brooks then turns into an all-star caliber player.

See, I really don't get comments like these, everyone knew Markieff had that talent, Brooks didn't magically increase his ceiling, he just called him out for not playing hard, don't discredit EG. Beal is now healthy, Wall had knee surgery to get healthy, Otto played like this last season, Brooks gets way too much credit around here. He makes some common sense adjustments that fans have been screaming for for years, he's not some player development god LOL.

But I really don't wanna start some ridiculous discussion where PIF lists off some 2nd round players that we missed on in 1973, I understand, F ERNIE SCOTT BROOKS IS A GOD, I'll fall back in line now.

Remember: half of you were calling for Lou Williams for a 1st, then Zach Lowe says no and all of the sudden the tune changes lol

More seriously, no one knew that Markieff had any exceptional amount of talent. And, so sorry, still no one knows he does. Isn't that sad? But I sure am glad he's playing well; I really am. Yes, Markieff has been playing well for 7 weeks now, & that's a good thing. It's been a good 7 weeks.

And, if Markieff turns into an all star, no one will be happier about it than I. In the meantime maybe you should stop blowing smoke. You have some good ideas -- keep being imaginative, it's a good thing. Revving your engine over Markieff, not so much. Talking about what a good job Ernie does... come on, young'un -- how long you been watching the Wizards?

admittedly only since the John Wall era, casual fan of the Gilbert days. people generally felt that Markieff was very talented, just didn't always play hard. he's been the X factor in the turn around. I was someone that was calling for his benching in favor of oubre before he started playing well. We'll see where it goes from here on out, but I don't think its a hot streak, I think brooks actually has changed him.

My guess is that we tried to get the Lakers to bite on Nicholson and they said no dice. Although our 1st will be marginally better, no one wants his crappy contract.

I mean I don't think thats the real issue here. The problem is EG set a price that Lou is worth and he would not move over that, and I applaud him for not over paying for lou **** williams. Good for EG. Let see what he pulls out of his hat.

If any thing it's feeding time around the league. I think there's little evidence that Magic is a shrewd talent evaluator. If I was a GM I'd see how foolish Magic is and would be trying to rob him blind.

How the **** do the lakers think that Nicholson and a first is worse that brewer and a first. brewer is awful and while Nicholson is not playing he is at least not on a terrible money contract and he is at least still young. Bruh, come on, Kelley oubre and a first for Lou williams when DC got sold off for a used honda, season 4 box set of scrubs on DVD, a bottle of tang and some cool ranch doritos. I am going to get blasted for this one but... Lopez for Mahinmi + Nicholson + 2 firsts. Just to get rid of those two contracts.

It's tempting. Getting out of 67 million of dreck over the next 3 seasons would be quite tempting. Certainly that is worth a 1st pick alone, I think even PIF would go along with that. It's the 2nd one that's kind of hard to wrap my thoughts around. ....

...Magic ...absolutely loves Ingram and ...likes Russell & Randle.... I don't think he's high on or thinks much of Clarkson, Nance & Zubac. ...I'd try to pick off Nance & Zubac if possible.

How are you getting that? Nicholson's contract extends two years beyond Brewer's and clocks in at an additional $12 million in total commitments.

Shabbaz would only be a rental, but I've always liked him. Not a great defender, but he's shooting 41% from 3 this year.

PIf since Lou got sold to the highest bidder do you call the lakers tomorrow after noon and say hey, we know we were not willing to go big on lou. but how about we do this. Clarkson/Zubac/nance, for nicholson/smith/and burke and 2017 first and second.

Why do we keep looking at small forwards/power forwards? Tucker and Mohammad are kind of redundant with Oubre and Smith, who seem to be our 2 best bench players. Really should be focused on guards.

How are you getting that? Nicholson's contract extends two years beyond Brewer's and clocks in at an additional $12 million in total commitments.

Its a 6 million a year when guys who are just as bad or worse are getting paid double or more a year. Its not a bad contract for a 26 year old big man with offencive skills and brewer is basically done in the NBA, done! Nicholsons still have a chance to be some what useful for a bit. My point is how do you say a comparable deal, is not good enough, come back and say we want Kelley oubre and your first, but take brewer. Makes no sense, at least makes me happy to see they did not get a more than one pick or a young asset, i hope the thing is protected too.

7 months after Wizards sign IAN MAHINMI to a 4 year 64 million dollar deal, Brook Lopez, Andre Drummond, and DEMARCUS COUSINS become available.

Now that they lowered that price I would go and say hey ill give you two firsts protected like you wanted, you just got to take mahinmi and nicholson! See if they bite.

Nance is a perfect big in today's NBA. He's got a good soft touch, athletic, and can finish. I'd easily trade a 1st for him. Doubt Magic would, but who knows?

I'd trade 2017 1st+2019 1st+Nicholson for Lou Williams+Nance in a heartbeat.

I'm not sure if I'd want to give up two firsts for Williams/Nance, but I agree about coveting Nance. Wall hasn't had a springy lob target since McGee. I've wanted a Nance-type energy big to come off our bench for years.

I wish people would stop devoting so much attention to big men. We don't need any big men at all. We need another guard. That's it.

For this season (assuming Markieff finishes the season in current style), no question -- you are right. A big improvement at backup 1 and/or 2 is both logical (it's where we suck) & most likely to help in the playoffs.

But with Nance & Zubac, Dat & I & others are just drooling over what's probably no more than a fantasy -- to really enhance our future at low cost (that last bit is where the fantasy part is located! ).

if they made two separate deals, one dumping nicholson using our 1st, and another for a player like Shabazz buckets with the 2nd, it might make sense. they have some options in terms of position less basketball

I'm guessing Shabazz is a Wizard by midnight and the Wolves have another 2017 first rounder in their pocket.

Seems like the prototypical E.G. move. Sure hope I'm wrong.

Could only trade Sato/Burke for Shabazz to fit into the salary slot unless Minny is willing to take on Nicholson. My guess is compensation is a 2nd rounder.

Could do a 3-way with the Rose trade:

Wiz trade 2017 2nd+Nicholson+Thornton for Shabazz+Lance Thomas (makes the same as Nicholson for same amount of years)
Knicks trade Thomas+Rose for Rubio+Nicholson
Minny trades Rubio+Shabazz for Rose+2017 Wiz 2nd
