Jury is out. Bigs take longer to develop. I overrated him thinking his low-post success would translate quickly. But his assist rates suggest he does know what he is doing out there and will puzzle it out. But he is still only 19 years old. One of the youngest rookies in the class.

He does make plays that look like he can play in the NBA:

Yup, though he's very... deliberate, his skills are tons of fun to watch - like the baby-Joker comp. And he plays taller than the 6'9 that he's listed at - even with that long neck and so-so leaping ability. A unique player.

DCZards wrote:PIF, I’d add Cunningham to your list of outstanding rookies. He’s been the focal point of the Pistons offense most nights…as well as the focal point of the opponent’s defense. That’s not the case with any of the other rooks on your list…most of whom (like Mobley, Barnes, Reaves & Ayo) are playing next to all-stars or all-star caliber players.

The other players you mention have played well, but Cunningham, along with Mobley and Barnes, have been the most impressive rookies, IMO.

Cunningham is a tremendous prospect. He looks like he has a very high bbiq. But, I can't see him as playing well yet, overall, for a couple of big reasons: 1. he turns the ball over a whole whole lot, & 2. he can't shoot: efg% 45.7%.

I'm not saying it's going to stay that way! :) It isn't! But, so far, it's a problem.

Of course, if you make a rookie the focal point of your offense, you are really giving him too much to carry!

Compounded by the need for bigs in the draft when they already had 3 point guards. The Kings should have stuck with Fox/Halliburton/Wright.

They needed talent at the F/C positions and should have traded down or taken the best forward or C available. #9 for #16 & #23 would have been solid.

Or if they felt that Mitchell was a must - they should have been better at pulling in a PF/C in free agency or moving Wright/Hield for someone that needed guards.

They also didn't have much luck with Holmes and his injuries. So there is that...

If Indiana is having second thoughts on Haliburton, I'd gladly trade Rui and our lotto pick for him.

I'd feel pretty good going forward with a lineup of:

PG Haliburton/Sato
SG Beal/KCP
SF Avdija/Kispert
PF Kuzma/Avdija
C Porzingis/Gafford

That's a nice 9-man rotation. It's pretty affordable too. There would be luxtax room to get some competent end of bench guys to fill in for injuries. I'd definitely want one more PF/C type to fill in for Porzingis' inevitable injuries. Maybe someone like Jalen Smith? I'd probably keep Neto as a 3rd string PG too.

Not sure I understand: why would Indy have second thoughts on Haliburton?

Speaking of Indy, did anyone notice the outings Bitadze & Jalen Smith had against us? They looked great, both of them.

Maybe the light finally went on for Bitcoin (if I can call him that). All of a sudden, he can make 3's. He's made 7 of his last 10 in the last 4 games, but before that, he made only 8 of 47 for the season. Another benefit of the Sabonis trade is him and Smith getting playing time.

I was glad to see Harden at his worst. Hate both those teams, but Harden is pretty detestable with his on-court flopping and flailing and off-court machinations. And I get that the beard (C) is a gimmick and part of his brand, but that thing is nasty. Shave it so we can all see your double chin!!!
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

I really thought that Houston had a solid draft with Jalen Green, Alperen Şengün, Usman Garuba and Josh Christopher.

They could have had Mobley so there is that. So, I guess in hindsight they could have done better but very solid.

And they have two more first round picks this year. A good chance that they get a top 4 pick and then Net's pick ~ 15 or so.

They also have the expiring contracts of Wall and Woods. And next year Gordon. So cap wise they are in a good place as well.

The could even do a trade "like" Gordon, Wood & Nwaba trade for Westbrook and 3 first round picks in '26, '28 & '30 and 3 second round for examples.

I'm convinced LAL will waive and stretch Westbrook's $47M. So he will count for $15.6M on LAL's cap in 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25.

As a free agent, the Hornets are interested.

Wall or Westbrook on the binanual or part of the mid level would be fine by me !

Perhaps the kid can make it, the Lakers used a 2-way slot on him. Congrats on being ROY.

I hear the Lakers might try to give Russ and Horton - Tucker and a pick for brogdon, buddy and McConnell.

Unless it's a very high pick, I don't know why Indiana would do that

Wishcasting by Lakers fans. There is zero chance Indy agrees to this.

You don't think they would take the chance to get off that much bad money I mean yeah brogdon has value but buddy is a pretty not good contract and TJ has 3 years left at almost 10 mill. I mean maybe one pick is t enough but 2? Tucker is 21 fits that team and Russ saves them a ton of money.
