Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
I would definitely draft Shedeur. Teams are going to regret passing on him. He was highly successful despite playing behind probably one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen. He took massive hits every game, and got up time after time. Kid had balls of steel the past two years. He’s getting penalized for being Deions son…it’s that simple.
Calling Shedeur a diva is downright dumb.

Not a diva?? Guy had his own customized draft room built. Has shoved a ref, left the sidelines early when his team is losing a game, talked **** about former teammates publicly. Terrible pre draft interviews. Essentially telling some teams point blank not to draft him. Yall are absolutely insane to want to invite that circus to the Skins. This isn’t the Dan Snyder era. And Milton didn’t have the baggage that Shedeur has. You’re not just getting him, you’re getting Deion too. Thank God y’all aren’t in the war room.
Here’s a prime example, pun intended:
Shedeur didn’t have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit,” McShay said on Thursday night. “An install package came in. Preparation wasn’t there for it. [He] got called out on it. Didn’t like that. Brian didn’t appreciate him not liking it.”

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
Jaylin Lane WR. Apparently he really showed out at the combine.
"-Draft Analysis
Lane put on a show at the combine, finishing in the top three for the receivers in the 10-yard split (1.5), 40 (4.34), broad jump (11 feet), vertical jump (40 inches), 20-yard shuttle (4.12) and 3-cone drill (6.75). He's a dynamic player who caught, ran, passed and returned a punt for a touchdown in 2024. He's excellent with the ball in his hands. He's quick with the speed to pull away when he gets a crease. Lane makes defenders miss, breaks tackles and follows his blocks. He flashes as a route runner and has the skill set to get even better. He's a natural pass catcher with big hands for his frame. -- Steve"

Dyami replacement looks like. I dig it. We still need a RB and edge rusher bad.

We just drafted the most below average - average LB
don’t like that pick one bit.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
He ran the fastest 40 time of any LB at the combine. He's a good tackler. I can see a really good use for him and in the 6th it's a solid pick up and good board management.Tyrone Messby wrote:We just drafted the most below average - average LBdon’t like that pick one bit.
I also like lane. But again my issue isn't the player taken they are solid and it was good scouting don't and good value at each pick
But really poor asset management.
We could have fallen back and still gotten out OT and picked up extra picks and if we have made that effort early we could have still gotten every player we got plus and edge and a RB. Good talent scouting good picking bad asset management.

He’s a poor tackler but pretty decent in coverage. A lot of missed tackles.

His athleticism sure isn't below average...which seems to the theme with this draft: speed/athleticism.

You're making a lot of assumptions.
You don't know if they could have traded down and gotten their OT. For all we know some team(s) were ready to pounce on Connerly.
They clearly valued Connerly more than the trade back offers they had..and I'm okay with that.

According to Bmitch and Finley San Francisco had Conerly at 2 on their board at pic 11.

Good draft. I trust AP over all the noise.

He is obviously very good but it isn't just him. He listens to input from a lot of people before making a call.
Sounds like they really try to build a consensus before making a move.

Re: The Washington Commanders Thread
The only pick I don't like was the RB with Raheem sanders still on the board. Yes his knees are an issue but he would have been a first or second rounder last year and you could maybe say the same about this kid but I like sanders better. And this kids already 24 for a RB that's old already.

We way over leveraged on vets in trades. And we depleted our draft capital. To me the goal in the draft should have been to recoup those assets. I get getting good players and starters is very important but I believe we could have still done that! We missed out of edge rushers completely. Now I like our draft I give it a B+ or an A - but **** me I don't like how leveraged we are. Now most of that has been paid. To be fair we are only in the hole 2 picks now and we might get some quality undrafted talent in here as a contender. But, I just think we could have done a better job managing assets. So many trades where a team slid back a couple picks and picked up a 5th or a 6th or a future pick could have really helped us out.

The goal with each pick should be to make the best use of that pick, not to " recoup assets".
