For example if we get the 5th pick I just hope we get the next Dwayne Wade and dont trade it, etc. Then when we trade it for a couple low tier NBA players I'll hope one of them has a career year and will resign with us. And when that fails I'll go back to hoping we score big in the lotto. It's a viscious cycle, but sometimes its not so much curses as it is ineptitude. Which I hope we grow out of...

You could always knock on the Wolves door. I wouldn't mind nabbing the 5th pick and selecting Wes Johnson to go along with Turner.

OK, I'm not going to repost my analysis from the draft thread earlier today, but let me just say there's an awful lot of superstitious nonsense being posted here. Some of it, I trust, is tongue-in-cheek, but an awful lot of it seems to be sincere. Welcome to the Enlightenment, folks, though you seem to be a few centuries late (if you arrive at all).

As for the visual representation of the odds, thanks miller31time. I found it very helpful, especially in terms of visualizing the difference between us and GS. The relative probabilities of the 5th & 6th picks are more or less reversed, but the more striking difference is that in place of their roughly 10% chance of picking 4th, we have a comparable chance of picking 7th. Ugly, ugly -- shows you what one coin flip (or unfortunately made 3-pointer) can do to our prospects.

Oh well, nothing we can do now. (Actually, there's nothing anyone here could have done all along, unless some of you are 2009-2010 Wizards players, coaches, or execs). It's all up to the ping pong balls now.

I don't believe in suspicious nonsense the day of the event. So whether we have Irene or some other "good luck charm", it just doesn't matter, because God hates the Washington Wizards. I feel rather certain that he'll give us the #7 pick this year. Why not 8? Because we would all become convinced of supernatural intervention if we got 8th, but we've all come to expect at least a two spot drop.

That said I'm pulling for top 3, and a shot at Favors wouldn't hurt either...

Well that was really comforting Ji

seriously, how could you do this? Does anyone have actual proof that
Ji is a Wiz fan?

I normally don't believe in superstition. In this case, I almost
have to make an exception. Enlightenment, slightenment.
We're screwed after this.

We dont need to pick 1 to end the Jink...we just need to move up from 5. The odds are our favor based on prior results.

Figures the only time we win the lottery was when I was out of the country but the best played in the draft was supposedly Kwame Brown

I hope you weren't serious about past results affecting future outcomes.
That's like predicting a coin flip based on the last flip or 2 or 3....or 10.

What teams winning the lottery would push us to 7th? 8th?

So I leave the message boards for a few months and nothing has changed. Ji.....still my favorite scapegoat. If we land at top 2 pick now, I'll be more shocked than usual. This is all your fault.....you can't spell Jinx without Ji

I'd be pissed with 6 or lower. I'd be disappointed with 5. I'd be confused with 4, since we can't actually get the 4th pick. I'd be content with 3. I'd be very happy with 2. If we get 1 I'll jump up and down here at work. I think a lot of people would agree here on the Wizboard :)

Anything is the top 3 will be beyond amazing to me. One way or another you'll get a top-flite PG, a very reliable 2, or a potentially dominate center. Anything beyond that will be utter choas!

this is like the bill murray ground hog day Bill Murray. Wake up and you already know what's going to happen.
Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands
