Per draftexpress, buyout is 500k. Agent said Wiz were 1st choice (of course he did). I think he's here.

There were some articles on this guy in the French media yesterday about him joining Tony Parker, Batum, Beaubois etc eventually in the NBA.

It's 4 AM here in Paris, so doubt any French papers say anything tomorrow, but it did seem as though he would be staying in France for at least another year. We shall see.

Poor pick by EG. Videos I've seen of him aren't very impressive.....and even French newspaper media seemed surprised at the amount of NBA interest.

I'm not crazy about the pick but I'm not unhappy with it. I like Seraphin a lot, hoping he can contribute in a few years

I actually like this pick, it could pay off big time in the long run

I think he's going to be the best bigman in the draft after monroe was drafted, at least in the long run. I think he could come over now and give us 10-15 minutes of decent play.

It's interesting that there was alot of Seraphin love pre-draft and moving up to draft him, but when we actually draft him, the wolves come out. Whether he was picked 17 or 22 makes little difference. Acquiring Hinrich and Seraphin for nothing but cap space is a good move. We weren't going to sign a FA with that anyway.

We need a physical presence in the block - hopefully he will eventually provide that. I am concerned with the lack of BBIQ however...

I have no opinion about Seraphin. Given the players left on the board, I don't mind that we took a flyer on an athletic big with upside. Maybe it'll pan out, maybe it won't. But in general, the only way to get good big men is to draft them. I can't blame EG for giving it a shot.

I like this pick a lot. I wonder how Surfman is celebrating. He will probably come over next year and I think we should let him start off by developing his game in the DLeague. Unlike all the other raw players drafted, from what I hear, he has a good work ethic. Working with Wall should be good for him too.

Bingo. A free shot at an athletic, Nene-type bruiser and people are complaining about Grunfeld.

I actually liked a bit of what I read on him, but that's when I was hoping he'd slide a few spots down to 30. At 17, he feels like a bit of a reach. Not a terrible choice I suppose, but not really what you're hoping for when you pay $17 million for a pick, you know? I'll try not to hold that against him as a player though.

That might be, we could pay that whole thing. But it seems that it's either he comes over this year or it's two or three years with the Lockout.

Love this pick and he would not have slipped to 30, he may have gone at 18 if we did'nt take him. Gonna be a great rotation player.

A good majority of us havent seen this kid play before. I certainly havent seen him play, save for the YouTube clips, etc.
It looks like a stretch at #17, especially if he stays one more year overseas. But, I look at it this way... We have 3 first round players to pay. Thats a lot of $$ to cover. I rather we take a chance on someone who will stay overseas so that our $$ commitment next year is less. If, while playing overseas, he becomes this great player that some think he can be, then we've hit the jackpot...and we didnt have to pay $$ to see it happen.

+1

I think he's here next year

but if he's not, maybe that's not so bad either
since we will be paying for 2 other firsts incl the
#1#1, obviously the highest rook salary.

Ideally I'd like to get him here to start the develop
process.

Great pick for you guys, I actually had him going to you guys in my mock draft. So I'm going to pat myself on the back for that one.

lol ya'll don't want him?

Dallas will easily give ya'll

2011 Dallas 1st/2013 Toronto 2nd for him?

We need a young big off the bench that we can bring in a few years from now, and not to mention he's a buddy of Beaubois....

Did anybody see them at the draft together? They were teammates for like 2 years at Cholet...

We definitely would not mind having a french connection off the bench a few years from now...
