Hopefully he is more contemplative when they show him the film.

Or maybe he was wondering why he was being singled out rather than the matadors who allowed Allen to waltz around them unimpeded. It isn't like there was anyone trailing Allen trying to chase him down.

If i were in his shoes i would probably get tired of trying to cover for guys who clearly werent trying. Allen isn't exactly known for his speed off the dribble.

The guys were clearly mailing it in. Making a big deal about this game is silly.

But it's been like this all season long. Whether it's a faulty perception on Wittman's part (I don't think it is), pretty much every game, you can see Wittman yelling in frustration at Seraphin after timeouts. It's after bad defensive plays more often than bad offensive plays. Clearly, the coaching staff's perception of Seraphin is one of frustration. That's been the case all season long, and there's no sign of that changing - especially if he really believes he's not doing anything wrong. He has 2 skills - the jump hook and the ability to defend his man in the low post. Everything else is problematic.

To be clear, one time Allen literally walked it into the lane. He wasn't even running like a 37 year old. Its not like weak side help would have been difficult.

No it hasn't. He either contests the shot or gives a hard foul when guys are going to the rim.

If you can think of a similar instance in any game this year feel free to share. I think it would have been comented on before the 79th game of the season if it was happening regularly.

Seraphin's consistent brain farts are when he has the ball in his hands, not on D.

Which makes me wonder how he got there in the first place, or why nobody caught him from behind.

I just caught the replay - about 8:50 in the 4th. Price was supposedly guarding him, but not really paying much attention. Allen literally jogged around him slowly to the left with no resistance whatsoever. Someone inside half-heartedly blocked out Seraphin, so he just sat there.

EDIT: Yeah, on looking at the game on TV, Price really does deserve a lashing as much as Seraphin. It would be an understatement to say Price had a lack of effort on that play. Kinda gives his post game comments about "we need to get back to defense" a different spin.

I dont blame them. I dont' think the 9th seed motivation gimmick is working any more. Guys are playing out the string waiting for the offseason. I don't think we are going to see much effort out them in the next 3 games.

Agreed. I'm now thinking we might be locked into the 7th or 8th seed instead of the 9th or 10th.

Yup. At some point, human nature takes over. These games are utterly meaningless, and in fact, winning them does the team long term harm.

Tanking as a long term strategy over an entire season, or over the last half of a season can do damage to a team's sense of professionalism and character. I'm pleased that the team played hard over these last two months even though the playoffs were a ridiculously long shot. But tanking for the last 3 or 4 games of the season when everyone knows they're meaningless is a different thing. I can totally understand it.

Could we trade him for a draft pick?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/wi ... story.html

Seraphin's comment at the end makes me mad, he acknowledged that he needs to be consistent but also thinks that playing behind Okafor and Néne has impacted him. This team has given him plenty of opportunities and minutes this year. He played his was out of a 25 mpg role with bad shot selection, bad shooting, soft play around the basket, and poor rebounding.

This made you mad ?

“It’s difficult because I have two beasts in front of me: Nene and Mek,” Seraphin said. “I accept my spot. I know I need to be more consistent.”

Why ?

Because he's not being limited by the "beasts" in front of him. He's being limited by his horrible play and horrible approach to the game this year.

Its certainly possible.

I'd love to get a wing and Center in this draft

But you have to remember he is a restricted free agent in 2014

it would be tough to get a pick. Using him as trade bait for an equally underacheiving player seems like the most likely scenario if he's dealt.

no progression, still no rebounding, still bad on rotations, still has tunnel vision offensively, still is an idiot player and the coaching staff doesn't help

Kevin will go to San Antonio next year and thrive with his French teammates in Parker and Diaw or he'll backup Joakim in Chicago and then we'll see how good he can be. Depressing.

So much for the offseason conditioning helping his game. He looks worse than ever, completely disinterested at times. Seems like he is more interested in Twitter than basketball.

He is the most frustrating player I've seen in a long time. He has all the skills, strength and athleticism you need in a big man, and he even seems to be a good guy and a hard worker; but he has no feel for the game at all. His bball IQ is zero.

At least with a low bball IQ wing like Nick Young, you can put him in a role where he doesn't have to make many decisions. You can't do that with a big man in today's game. There is too much help defense responsibility, too many double teams when you have the ball, and rebounding is as much mental as it is physical.

If he spent as much as time in the video room and in the gym as he does posting pics of his snake and on a segway, maybe he'd actually be a productive big man.
