Ya Aldridge wants out:

I wonder if Portland is kicking themselves now from turning down the Cleveland trade.

It can be done like you say, yes.
I'm the iPad now typing manually and can't post a link, but over on the blazers board there's a thread about Aldridge wanting out. On about page 30 of that thread (around there), there's a guy claiming to have sources and said that the Zards are one of the teams that called the blazers. His posts are in blue and Nobody is rolling their eyes at his insider status; not worth much, but I thought I'd mention it for everyone.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
Crazy idea to get us the #1 overall to take Noel:
Wizards trade: Ariza, Seraphin, and #3
Wizards receive: #1, Speights, Gee, and Hamilton
Cavs trade: Speights, Gee, Miles, and #1+19
Cavs receive: Luol Deng and #3
Bulls trade: Deng and Hamilton
Bulls receive: Ariza, Seraphin, Miles, and 19
If my math is correct, here's what happens:
- Cleveland acquires a starting SF for spare parts while only moving down two spots, where they could probably still get Len.
- Chicago gets value for Deng while not downgrading all that much to Ariza and also getting under the luxury tax next year.
- We get to move up to #1 for facilitating all of this.
EDIT: Yes, CHI could deal directly with CLE and accomplish the same savings but they wouldn't get Ariza, who I think would help them more than anyone CLE would be giving up.

I'd think that would still be on the table if the offer was actually made.

I believe if we make the pick (for them) you're able to do that, but I could be wrong. I don't think it's enough though to get it done.
Yep, if the Wizards draft a player and then trade him, they can trade the 2014 pick as well. If they trade the pick before they make a selection, they can only include the 2015 pick or beyond.

Maybe. Now that Cleveland knows he wants out, his value may have dipped. I really hope the Wiz make a STRONG play for him.

He's exactly what Wall wanted and more we be a contender if we get him and not trade away Wall or Beal.GhostsOfGil wrote:Deeptu McPullup wrote:GhostsOfGil wrote:Ya Aldridge wants out:

I would offer Okafor, #3, and uh...I don't know. We have nothing else to really offer.
Another option: Beal, Okafor, Singleton and the #3 for Aldridge, Matthews, #9
We run with:
Wall
Matthews
Webster
Aldridge
Nene
I would try and parlay the #9 and Ariza for Illyasova. We would be set in the frontcourt for the next few years. Maybe add a shotblocker.
Hell no we not trading Beal.
This is a ridiculous response to me. So Beal is untouchable? Some of you guys have to resist from attaching yourselves to players and realize that the ultimate goal is to improve your roster and win games. Beal is a nice player....BUT he's not a franchise player. He's a Mitch Richmond, not a Kobe Bryant, or a Dwayne Wade. If you can trade for a well-rounded bigman that had a PER of 20.4 last season, you do it.
Put down the pom-poms and look at things objectively. Matthews and Aldridge is better than Beal and some question mark in this draft.

I guess the real thing working against Cleveland here is that they're hardly a step up if LMA want's a bigger market and better teammates.
I'm definitely in favor of a rich offer. Pretty much 3rd/38th/2014 1st & Seraphin is the best we can do. Maybe Ariza to a third team for value, though I'd rather keep all the vets we can if we go this route.

Good point about Cleveland. I dont think this years picks + 2014 + Seraphin is enough. If we get LA, our pick next year would be in the 15-20 range. Dont think it holds that much value. I think the reality is, if we want LA, Beal would need to be involved. That kills this deal IMO.

I posted this on the trade board:
Wizards trade: Beal, Okafor, Ariza, #3, #38
Wizards receive: Aldridge, Matthews, Ilyasova
Blazers trade: Aldridge, Mathews, #10
Blazers receive: Beal, Okafor, #3, #38
Milwaukee trades: Ilyasova
Milwaukee receives: Ariza, #10
Wizards upgrade their frontcourt big time.
Wall/Price
Matthews/?
Webster/?
Aldridge/Illyasova
Nene/Seraphin
We can move Ernie's kids to fill out the roster, since they'll be pretty useless after this trade.

Interesting. That's quite a makeover - a lot to digest. I think all teams would consider it.

If the Blazers are giving up LMA, there's is no possible way that they are giving up the #10 pick as well. Look at the package that was supposedly offered for Love. LMA is on par with him and may be viewed as more valuable to some. Bad deal for Portland, not enough coming in for what's going out.
Just let the young boys play! It's truly the only hope at this point.

Re: Official Trade Thread - Part XXIV
I'd give up the 3 and any combo of players (except Wall/Beal) to get Aldridge. A young, coming into his prime All star caliber big man to pair with wall & Beal would be nice.

Considering he's still 19, I think your right. I'd rather stick with Beal than have a long shot at contention with Ald.

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas was once known for creating fireworks on the court with his exciting style of play, but actual fireworks have now gotten him into a bit of hot water with the law.
According to TMZ, Arenas was pulled over early Thursday morning in Los Angeles for speeding. The officers who pulled him over soon found that Arenas' truck was chock full of illegal fireworks, so he was arrested and charged with possession of illegal fireworks and speeding.
Arenas' arsenal of fireworks was apparently quite dangerous, as TMZ is also reporting that a bomb squad was called in order to take care of the 20 boxes he was transporting.
The three-time NBA All-Star is no stranger to legal trouble. Arenas was suspended for much of the 2009-10 season and sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house after he and former Washington Wizards teammate Javaris Crittenton drew guns on each other in the Wizards' locker room on Christmas Eve, 2009. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1686 ... -fireworks
