It's not just Antic pulling Hibbert out to stretch the floor, it's Hibbert regressing to the point where he's a self-check offensively and being completely worthless in terms of defending or rebounding in space.

Indy is getting nothing at C. Hibbert's backup, Ian Mahinmi is about as offensively skilled as Hibbert is on his worst day. And the lack of scoring & rebounding at the C position isn't being made up by anyone else.

In a series against Washington Hibbert wouldn't necessarily have to be a scoring threat as long as he can protect the paint, and keep us from scoring easily in the paint and near the basket.

Hibbert is lacking confidence right now, and has for some time, but sometimes all it takes is one game and Hibbert has had a fair share of those against Washington in the past few years.

Let's not forget about West either, who's been a consistent thorn in our side and has had a knack bullying Washington inside and out.

I'd take HCA and Atlanta over and re-energized, confident Pacers team all day.

I dont want to beat the bulls without MJ, the lakers without Magic, the C's without Bird. I want to beat the best and go through the best. You get more respect like that anyways.

Now if we play the Hawks then we play the Hawks. Obviously they will have deserved to win, would be considered a better team than Indy right now, and it would be exciting as they like uptempo and Wall could get his scoring going but I want the so called bigger challenge. I would love to say that we knocked off the Bulls, Pacers, Heat, and a WC big dog. If we beat the Hawks and lose to the Heat then their would be a ton of people saying this was a fluke run and doesnt mean squat for next year

IDC if the Wiz went through a 37 win team to get to the Eastern Conference finals. It's not the Wizards fault the East was bad this year.

the 78 championship team won 44 games in the reg season

does anyone really care about that now? That team also had 2 of the greatest 50
and a 3rd guy who was also pretty good, BobbyD.

I wouldn't be that worried about West. He is a good player but we have Nene
to check him.

No disrespect to them, the work they've done this season is absolutely remarkable. Chase Budinger is my coach of the year when taking into consideration what he had to work with, and where he got the team.

That said, I think Washington matches up with Atlanta extremely well. We have bigs that can move, which may negate some of the things Atlanta used to exploit the matchup with Atlanta, and our team can score inside and out, unlike Indiana, who haven't gotten anything from their bigs inside in their series.

Mike Budenholzer?

Beat me to it. I was wondering when Budinger became a coach.
Though Dr. J, Darnell Hillman, and Artis Gilmore's fros got most of the attention, George C. Trapp's fro should be noted for its bouncy qualities.

I'm torn. Playing Indiana would be more high profile and probably more prestigious if we win, but Atlanta provides HCA and I think they would be easier to beat. Hmmm, still thinking...

We would beat either one but Atlanta wouldn't go no more than 5 games. Pacers probably 6-7.

For the remainder of the season, I am for going against whichever team that keeps us on the road the most. We play better with a chip on our shoulder, or when its us versus the world. Somehow, that's just the way we roll.

Did anyone see Legler on SportsCenter last night? He was asked who poses the greatest threat to the Heat in the East and he didn't even hesitate - said Washington, no doubt. The anchor was surprised ("Really?") and he came right back with something like "Absolutely. They have the speed to give the Heat trouble, and the kind of size that Miami struggles with."

He certainly didn't think Indy was posing much of a threat (of course, they could be gone by tonight). I hope he's right.

For the next round (not looking ahead, not looking ahead...), I'd take ATL. Selfishly, I might get to see a game in person with my son, who is pretty excited about it. But I agree with those here who have pointed out that IF the Pacers get back on track - and 2 straight wins in elimination games can do that to you - they have far more talent than the Hawks. A Pacers team that is in the right mindset probably beats the Wiz in 5 or 6. And while they haven't been there for the past 2 months or so, I wouldn't want to take t he chance.

Go Hawks!

nate33 wrote:I would prefer to play Atlanta. I know they're playing well and handling Indy right now, but I still fear Indiana's defense. I think Atlanta is making them look bad because Antic can draw Hibbert out of the lane, but we don't have that advantage. When we play Indy, we're going to face their usual stingy defense. If they're holding us to 90 points a game, I think it's possible they could have 4 decent offensive games when somebody gets hot, and beat us in 7.

I look at Atlanta's roster and just wonder how they're going to stop us. They don't have an answer for our large front line. Atlanta will probably score at a decent clip, but they won't keep us from scoring.

Sounds like your describing the Bulls Wiz match up. I think we have an edge over either team TBH. I think Washington is in a good mindset to take on Indiana after facing a similar team in the Bulls. I feel like Washington may not be mentally prepared to face a more potent offense in Atlanta. With that said I voted for Atlanta because I think HCA actually has value now that the VC is rocking. Either way I like our chances against either team.

I dont even think the best Pacers team beats us in less than 6

the only reason why Im ok with playing the Hawks is that I know they arent our final destination. The Indy matchup is still much less exciting to me than Miami. Thats the team who I want so Im ok with playing the Hawks but I want the Heat. BK would be exciting also even though the covderage may not be special. Definitely dont want the Hawks then the Raps though. Talking about a ratings killer. The 1 good thing about us is that seems like everyone who watches us finds us to be exciting so they want to see us, especially if its a sexy matchup.

There is 1 flip side that no one is talking about. We are on the biggest high weve ever been on but what if we get that weird homecourt vibe again and actually lose to the Hawks. It would more than offset the Bulls win and I think Witt would still be fired along with EG probably being gone too. The playoff experience would become much less meaningful to me in terms of guys like Wall-Beal. It would be the worst possible ending ever. I wouldve rather had lost to the Bulls in that case......lol

Short of Wittman and Grunfeld walking to center court at the Verizon Center, dropping trou and "crossing streams", there's a zero percent chance either guy will be...umm...relieved of his duties. They're both coming back.

Careful what you wish-for. The Bulls couldn't score & ATL seems to have kicked-it up a notch offensively.

I hope we face ATL. Just take a look at the regular season:
- 3-1 vs Hawks
- 1-2 vs Pacers.
IND has big guys and we had trouble against them.

And we still have time to beat really big team in the EC finals if MIA advances.

We lost to Indiana early in the season @ IND big time

Beat them a month ago at Verizon Center pretty good.

true but there is something I want to say to our fans, the fans on the national board, and the media. I think our Bulls victory has become way way way too maligned. The Bulls have literally been the best team in the East for a long stretch now. Theyve had the best record and were playing dominant basketball. Because we wiped them out so easily, everyone can only see their shortcomings but that was a real team.

Im saying that also in response to your comment. The offensive thing is true and we would need to adjust but defense is still a huge part of winning these games and I just cant see one matchup on there team where they can stop our guy. The only matchup is Carroll on Ariza but its kinda neturalized since we dont ask TA to do anything one on one anyways. They could put Carroll on Beal but I think Brad is too small and quick for him. At the end of the day I dont see Hawks having any chance to stop our Offense while we play good enough D and have enough defensive players to come up with atleast more stops than them

Atlanta, we've seen Indiana at their peak and they could flip a switch at any moment. Indiana at their best sweeps us easy.
