Re: The Sky Is Not Falling
Except, Millie no one is suggesting any 'desperate trade' based on the last 3 losses (although last night's was really unacceptable). And no one is suggesting we "clean house." Nor am I sure anyone is hanging our heads.
Sure, we are a playoff team -- as we were last year. And last year's team -- once Miller/Gooden joined -- actually *was* a "50+ win" (i.e. 61%+ wins). So far, even w/ the 3 recent losses, we are too.
But the team isn't going to change, so that'll depend on our strength of schedule on the way in. As to being banged up and needing some recuperation time, that's true of every team in the league. No differential effect likely on our guys.
I do agree that Gortat is likely to regain his form. Less likely Butler, but I'd love him to -- he's a real feel good story this year.
Still, we would be better w/ a young PG and one more big better than Seraphin -- and that's more or less what most trade suggestions have targeted. Whether realistically or not is a different question.

The sky might not be falling, but it is crying. This is a good excuse to listen to SRV and friends.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a guy get hit that hard for suggesting a team slouching into the all-star break might come out looking better after--admittedly they may not but it does happen.

Perhaps that's true if you look at his point in a vacuum, but this is the same guy that dismissed criticism of Grunfeld as misguided, and had the franchise on track to establishing a winning culture similar to that of the Spurs.
Millie has been trolling this board the second the Wizards saw a modicum of success, not surprising he's not being taken seriously.

Anyone who cites Temple getting playing time as a positive development deserves the abuse.
And lets not forget that other teams have guys on the injured list. We don't yet we are still struggling.

A troll is a troll. The ignore function is a great tool...although I wish people would stop quoting his crap.

Earlier in the season many of us were complaining about the way the Wiz were playing. Then we were hit with "we won, why are you complaining?". This is why we were complaining. Ugly wins have a way of leading to ugly losses. Weak play isn't going to be rewarded over the long haul.
Our point differential of +1.5 is 6th in the conference. The Bucks and Bulls are at +2.0.

Agreed. Our easy schedule in the beginning of the season masked the true identity of this team. This team, at best, is only slightly better than last years team. Many people are viewing this team as a "slumping" team. Let's be real, even when we were "winning", we were still losing to Toronto, Atlanta, OKC, Phoenix, Portland etc. If anyone thinks this team is better than Cleveland, Toronto, and Atlanta, you are kidding yourselves. If Rose starts resembling the old Rose and starts playing team ball, no chance the Wizards win against them either. With Milwaukee, we have a chance but it isn't guaranteed. So if by chance we do make it to the 2nd round (by beating Chicago or Milwaukee), I don't expect anything more than a 0-4 sweep of us, or maybe 1-4 loss. For those of you who think the Wizards have a chance to make it to the third round are fooling yourselves.
So the question for Leonsis in the off-season will be, does he need to change the GM and/or Coach since the Wiz hit the plateau of making it to the second round and nothing more in the past two years. I hope he makes the right choice.

Re: The Sky Is Not Falling
Sadly I don't think a tough 1st round exit changes anything. At least this year or this coming offseason. The series win against the Bulls last year gave Ernie & Witt some cache to withstand the eventual reality that we really aren't all that good.

I think if we can cling onto 5th place - we will meet the Bulls and move to the second round again. We will get destroyed by the Hawks who will go to the finals. So, Checkers will still be able to claim victory.

"BS," Hands? I think most of us posting here would be likely to agree w/ this analysis of Millie.
Did he not call Grunfeld "a great GM?"
Did he not say the Wizards were becoming a franchise like the Spurs.
Why... now that I think of it, he's even praised Wittman. Your bete noire.
