We need to help Ted out. Who is the wizard's next scot mccloughan or do aready have him with Scot Brooks or do we need identify GM's. We need a GM who has a track record of finding of building team the same way scot mccloughan did. Any suggestions for Ted? Bringing in Executives from West Coast teams that annually make the playoffs in a difficult division is priority one. Pay them above market value to leave their team. I would offer second in command of whoever was responsible to drafting for the Warriors and give them EG job and moves EG to contract aka Bruce allen for redskins. If you can't get golden state assistant gm then get assistant gm for OKC.

Who was the guy responsible for drafting draymond green--that guy has the same scott ability and scott M. who was the guy who grabbed steph curry. who was the guy who brought in Bogut. Who was the guy in warriors organization that pushed for Klay thompson. who decided to nab harrison barnes. We now know barnes, was way better than Beal.
If ted doesn't imitate what snyder did, we as fans have no hope for a dynasty.

Ted Leonsis found and restored the 1978 championship trophy.

Without his incredible detective work it might have been forever lost in the janitors closet.

Oh yeah, and he took down the Mystics Attendance Champion banner, kudos.

Honestly that is so embarrassing. Who lies about something like that? Except someone desperate for attention.

Comment from the article:
There is no truth to the story regarding the missing trophy! Everett Bowie, Vice President of Washington Sports, was my father and at no time was the trophy in his home. Mr Leonsis is a liar when he states he sent team members to my father's home, in fact when Mr Leonsis took over the team my father had passed away and I owned the home, so I definitely know the truth. Shame on the WP for reporting lies that are damaging to an honorable man's reputation and shame on Ted for his continued attempts at discrediting the Pollin family. The trophy was on display in both the Capital Centre & Verizon Center, I saw it many times and observant fans who attended games will agree! Next time check your sources, WP!

Time for Ted to fire himself and sell the team. The only way for this franchise to turn itself back around is to get an owner who actually cares about basketball. Hell i'd even take the Kings crazy owner who picked Stauskas over Ted. At least he cares.

As long as he's making money he's not selling the team. Hachimura was very likely picked just because his jersey would sell well in Asia (I don't hate Rui but I would've traded down or picked someone else). And we know who made the call to trade Wall for ex-mvp, super durable Westbrick and how Leonsis thinks he's so smart and a great guy.

Indeed. He is the head of the snake and the root of our problems. As long as he remains the owner of franchise I seriously doubt the culture of spin and lack of accountability will change...

Ted Leonsis once said "Racism is bad business."

I appreciate Leonsis for always finding the right words and never losing sight of the human element.

I mean, at least he immediately owned up to his mistake

And why do we assume that he lied to gain attention

Maybe someone else told him the story and he simply repeated it

Or maybe it was a case of something getting distorted as it got repeated and passed along

Of all the possibilities, why do we assume that lying intentionally is the correct one?

Immediately?

It took an article published a full 6 days later to have Leonsis fess up about his story being manufactured, and it's not exactly like he had a choice.

The Washington Post article on the trophy is based on a first hand account by Ted Leonsis, and how do we assume he did it to gain attention?

His pompous ass made a story about honoring the 1977-78 NBA Champion Bullets all about himself, his incredible wealth while painting himself as the savior of a moribund franchise.

I mean, it'd take someone with monumental incompetence to think that he can tell a lie, one that can be easily debunked, on record on the Washington Post and get away with it, doesn't it

Not saying that billionaires aren't capable of incompetence or mendacity

But I'm willing to entertain the possibility that it was a slip up, than an intentional lie

For about the 1000th time: Ted CANNOT sell the team. Ted DOESN'T OWN the team.

Ted is the largest stockholder (the majority owner) of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, a company in which other individuals & corporate entities also own stock. Monumental owns the Capitols, the Wizards, the Capitol Arena, & some other entities.

Without going into detail about something obvious, there would be no way for Monumental to sell the Wizards without destroying itself as a venture. &, since it is quite a successful venture, nothing about Wizards ownership is going to change any time soon.
