and also watch the games on Wednesday night on NBCSN, they usually feature a good game between two good teams. Most importantly, watch the playoffs, no-one can watch playoff hockey and not instantly become addicted. The caps have a fun team to watch, they dominate possession and feed Ovechkin for one timers on the power play.

I don't watch hockey, but when I did, it wasn't too hard to brush up on players and styles of play. It helps when you are watching with fans that are familiar with all those things. Puck and players move so fast, but the creating of and defending against scoring opportunities in hockey is similar to those in basketball and soccer. Also, see this movie:

It's not that hard.

I'm from a state where people literally don't know what ice hockey is.

Moved to the northeast where hockey is popular and became a fan.

Go to a live game. Hockey is one of those sports that's 100x better when you watch it live.

Caps are a great team to start following, they've been making the playoffs consistently for a decade. Their window is closing but IMO they're due for at least a Cup Final appearance soon. They've never been able to get over the hump but they're due.

Really big game tonight between the Caps and Blue Jackets. Want to really put some distance between us and them.

Game just started. CSN.

It's just crazy that the 5th place team in the Metro division will likely get a MUCH easier playoff pairing than the 2nd and 3rd place teams.

Looks like the Caps are cruising to two points against the Blue Jackets. Up 3-0 middle of the 3rd.

Who are you expecting them to play in round 1? They are not beating a fully healthy Tampa Bay team or a fully healthy FLA team. Florida was missing Barkov and Huberdeau for a huge chunk of the year, TBL obviously has been missing Stamkos, but much more than that, they've hardly had the entire team healthy at any point this year. Point, Hedman, Stralmen, Johnson, Killorn and many others have been in and out of the lineup through the year.

The bolts were one terrible missed offsides call away from playing for the cup last year without Stamkos. Florida was the 2 seed when healthy.

The caps don't wanna catch either of those teams

It's looking like either Boston, Ottawa or Toronto. There's a huge game between Boston and Ottawa tomorrow night. Islanders are 5 points back with 3 games left to play. Also I think the Caps won the President's Trophy again.

Oh man guys. I'm so glad this team managed to avoid Tampa Bay and Florida. I don't know what this team would have done if they got matched in the first round.

Game 2 of the opening round of the playoffs is tonight vs the Maple Leafs. Let's see if the Caps can put together an entire 60 minute game.

Please discuss the game at the official game thread, linked here.

Really tough loss. You can see the fans in the phone booth cringe and fear the worse. We should breeze through this first round. But wow, Anderson is good.
