I'm not a Turge fan. It seems like it's perception vs. reality because while he's not a great coach, that's not what his record says:
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/coaches/mark-turgeon-1.html

If I can find it, I'll post his record against ranked teams and teams on the road, which is putrid.

C'mon guys, Turge would be a great coach... if we were in the 1960's. Seems like he's never understood the importance of transition basketball - getting easy buckets, and he's never emphasized 3 point shooting. He even under-utilized the one great 3 point shooter he recruited - Huerter. Even the recruits he's gotten for next season are not shooters. And there has been so little development from year to year of his players. He's a very professional and likable coach, but it seems like his coaching style is about 50 years behind the times.

It was a good win, but really, they should win at home against 24th ranked Nebraska. Bruno continues to show he's a likely top 20 pick, and Jalen Smith making 2 of 3 3's is a big deal.

The win over ranked Nebraska was the first...in a long time. The favorable part of the schedule served up a real bad Rutgers team for a road win.

Agreed on all points.

The freshmen are potentially a reason for optimism. Getting fewer turnovers as a whole and less ball dominance out of Cowan will help. Sticks and Morsell have on court chemistry.

I haven't seen the Terps yet...just replays on YouTube etc. Thinking about picking up BigTen Network for live games over Spectrum cable TV so I can watch them closely. I expect disappointment because of past Turge teams.

Sorry to see Ben Coleman from 84 team passed. Bias, Coleman, Branch, Adkins, Veal, Gatlin. Fun team.

Man, he graduated from MD the same time I did - in 1984. He was Mr Dependable in his 2 seasons as MD's big. You could write down before each game that he'd get 15 and 8 boards; okay some games it'd be 16 and 9. He wasn't Buck Williams, but he helped fill that big-man void that Buck left, and he did it real well.

Ben had nifty moves. His footwork and that nice jump hook of his made him very consistent and effective.

Really good road win for the Terrapins over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

They have a great roster, the best since Turgeon had that most overrated team featuring Diamond Stone.

Turgeon going to a zone in the 2nd half changed things. I'm shocked they won due to his coaching.

Nice write up on the win; as well as remembering Ben Coleman. Ben was the same age I am.

Ben Coleman, who started his career at Minnesota and finished it at Maryland, was honored with a moment of silence before Tuesday night’s game. Coleman, who returned to his home in the Twin Cities after his 12-year professional career ended, died Sunday at age 57.

After averaging a little over five points and three rebounds for the Gophers — he was the first African-American player from Minneapolis to play for Minnesota — Coleman went to Maryland, where he averaged nearly 15 points and eight rebounds in two seasons.

Gotta figure that after beating the top 24 team and then a 12-2 Minnesota team on the road - both double-digit wins - the Terps have a good shot at getting ranked in the top 25. What hurts them is not getting a major non-conference win - which has consistently been a problem under Turgeon. Nice to see Cowan finally busting out of his slump - they need him to be the catalyst. Ayala's a nice role-player, but he's not that guy - certainly not as a freshman. Wiggins also should get more run - he's already their best 3 point shooter, and he's got some serious all-around talent. Morsell continues to disappoint with his shooting.
