Yeah, tough one right? Should the other players be exposed?

Definitely. All sports, conferences, etc (things that enable masses of people to gather) should be cancelled till the medical system can handle the influx of Corona virus incubators. This is what they did in China and Italy. It seems to have worked.

Hmmm...59?

I think it is inevitable that you will come in contact with the virus no matter what age. It's sort of natural selection. Those of you taking precautions and in the best position to survive probably will.

Living with a bunch of veterans in a transient housing situation, I literally cleaned feces from the wall of a communal shower today. Just thought I'd add some perspective. I think one of our veterans is going through chemo and he literally pooped himself yesterday and I cleaned that that up too.

The whole thing is kind of a bummer. Part of me thinks just go on with your normal life and f*** all the critics who think they know everything. But the older, wiser me says follow best practices.

I'm going to the beach and I'm going to the gym while I can before they close that down.

-big bottle of vitamin c
-Wild thyme, you can get it on amazon or in any Ethiopian market
- turmeric supplement or powder (also in Ethiopian or Indian market)
- ginger fresh or tea or powder (also in Ethiopian or Indian market)
- regular mucinex or guafenicin not long acting or you can get both
- eucalyptus or ravintsara essential oil
- ibuprofen
- Carlson Aces + zinc or another vitamin with all of those or separately. Zinc is key.
-selenium or Brazil nuts toasted

Only take elderberry or echinacea if you have no cold or flu symptoms. At the moment you have them, stop taking them and start vitamin c loading

Good old vitamin c and fluids, prove helpful, as always.

Got most of that, although I could hit the Ethiopian market again, get some berbere powder. Homemade stew for a month!

Everyone over 60, say goodbye, according to someone in this thread somewhere. Probably not, but doc's advice and limiting public interaction seems prudent.

With so much information on the internet, for your own well being, vet your research as if you need to persuade a stone faced skeptic (professor, judge, PIF, nate33) of the accuracy, relevance, and interrelationship of your sources.

I think now, looking back at my years of Bullets/Wizards fandom, how many times the words "NBA Season Suspended Indefinitely" would have sounded like words of mercy.

Between Rudy Gobert, Tom Hanks and his wife, and now Donovan Mitchell who thinks any of them are going to die?

Why am I being so morbid? I don't know?

The question is what happens if and when and for those who survived the first round of it?

Don't most people build up an immunity?

Oh stop. No. Nature tries every door that’s all. MERS, SARS, H1N1— every few years there’s a new alteration of a previously existing pathogen. The only thing is now we hear about it quicker. And anxiety can become pandemic before the virus ever does.

Also as there are more people than ever and as the world is more connected by flights and shipping etc. we are in more contact with far flung parts of the world so any successfully virulent new strain can spread farther and faster before we develop herd immunity from antibodies etc.

Anyway nowadays evil operates right out in the open. What’s the point of hidden conspiracies? You might as well advertise directly and brand your virus.
I trust that you are correct.

Nevertheless, I'm going to choose to remain a damn fool skeptic. Somebody mixed this s*** up in a lab.

It's absolutely amazing how many things have been triggered mainly by Rudy Gobert getting the virus. Soon, all that will be left is Will Smith and his dog.

It was all mixed up in God's test tube. We are His experiment.

Follow level-headed advice (like doc's), use caution and care, take care of yourself (and others, where you can), but don't be an alarmist. In disaster and horror movies, the alarmist always dies horribly. Prevention and mitigation as far as we can, then wait and see.

Right.... The high order bit is to survive & to help others survive. A lot of people will get sick & a lot of people will die.

They do this already and its not only because of the new pandemic. Be careful and live you life. Living in fear and tears are not a healthy thing for the body either.

For generally healthy people the thing isn't so much avoiding getting it, but delaying and lower the intensity of the peak.

Excellent really:

Joe Rogan interviews Infectious disease specialist from CIDRAP. (Center for infectious disease) who predicted this.

38 or so minutes in he says, how to combat it.

Basically rest and maintain a healthy immune system. Avoid smoking, obesity, etc.

It’s transmitted through respiration, largely in the 4 or so days before you show symptoms. So hand washing etc is a fine thing to prevent infection in general but itself does little to combat this. And only sealed face masks (industrial or medical quality) will prevent contracting it, though sure they will block a cough that would propel it further.

It tends not to show in kids, they’ll transmit it but not have symptoms. It tends to be worse in smokers and overweight people. But health care workers are especially vulnerable due to constant exposure and overwork.

He says we are looking at months not weeks in the rollout of this. But yes now is a good time to hit a pause button.

Weird how so many things are shutting down for 2 or 3 weeks - the NBA, school systems, businesses, churches... like, what do people expect is going to change for the better in 2 or 3 weeks?

I think it isn't so much thinking it will be over then as to have a better idea of how long it might be.

No doubt they will reevaluate and update a few times within those 2 weeks. But the hope is to blunt the curve of transmission while it is still in the early stages. If you can flatten that rate early then there’s a hope that you can minimize if not the number of cases but the number that are happening at the same time. That gives health officials a chance to keep up with the incoming flood. I expect the two weeks will be extended. But anyway while the virus is in that doubling phase anything you can do to stall it also can have an exponential (positive) effect.

So I think they should give the current 9th seeds a chance to play in to the play offs. Play the 8 the seed in a single elimination game

Plus, I think whoever wins that game should have a chance to play for the 7th seed. Also in a single game.

Or... why? Why should the 8th seed have its position in the playoffs be up for grabs?
