We're probably going to end up tied -- at 17 wins.

So a coin flip at the draft lottery? But shouldn’t it lock us into a top 3-4 spot by finishing worst record? Forget all the little caveats to it all.

We are now tied.
Tiebreaker, according to Tankathon, is coin flip

The coin flip is for seeding. I believe the odds
(for the too 4 spots)
for the worst 2 teams is or are, the same.
Where it could come into play is if NEITHER
team is picked in the top 4.

Yeah it seems to be a 23.9% probability that neither the Jazz or the Wizards win the lottery.

MEM is now 6th with 3 games left. They still play
MIN, @DEN and DAL, all of whom are still in
the WC playoff picture.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 6
MEM looks likely to head to the play-in after the loss to MIN which has them in the 7th slot
with 2 games to play. It's still very tight so nothing is written in stone. They are tied at 47-33 with
GSW and MIN. At worst they could fall to 8th and have 2 chances to win a game, the second
chance being to play SAC or DAL in a win or go home situation. The ideal scenario for us is for
them to wind up as the 8th seed after the play-in. They could still finish as high as the 6th seed
and avoid the play-in.

Well...the team with the worse record can fall no further than 4th. 2nd worse record can fall to 5th. If i'm the Wizards, I'm just emptying the clip and starting guys like AJ Johnson, Vuk, Jones, etc. I'd rather take my chances on Utah winning at least one more game than to end up with a tie.

The worst team can fall to 5th in the draft. The top 4 picks are selected randomly with the worst 4 teams
having the best chance of being selected and the odds getting progressively worse through the 14th team.
The 10 remaining teams after drawing the top 4 are placed according to W-L record.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 6
I was always taught to keep it simple. And deal with one day at a time.
For tonight Wizards want the following:
A). Wizards lose to the Bulls
B). Thunder lose to the Jazz
Both are possible since Chicago wants home court advantage in the play-ins. And OKC is resting their starting lineup and a couple of guys that usually come off the bench for them.
Do I cry if it doesn’t happen? - No
Will I secretly do a happy dance in my heart if it happens? - Heck yeah

MEM lost again. They'll probably finish 8th.
Then have 2 chances to grab the 7 or 8th seed.
If they can beat the winner of the 9-10
matchup (SAC/DAL).

Warriors vs clippers tomorrow should be intense.
Just saw that Anthony Edwards got a technical and will be suspended next game against the Jazz, unless it's recinded.

Memphis gets 2 chances to win. Most likely games against the Mavs and the kings.
Edit: My bad. I got this wrong.

First a chance @GSW
Failing that, against the DAL/SAC winner.
I think they lose the GSW game but win the next.
Which in some ways would be perfect. The lowest
seed for them and the best possible draft pick for us.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken (and I might be), unless
the 6ers get a top 4 pick, I think they'll lose their
FRP. If that true, that's a huge f-up.
Correction- they are fifth worse. If 2 teams move
past them, they lose it. IIRC, their pick is top 6 protected.

I don't believe Steph Curry has won a play-in game in his career. Although Jimmy Butler is 1-1 and in that season the Heat made it to the NBA Finals.
